Many thanks Dee, I will take the reduction of 20% and see how the hips handle this.

Bummer that your hips are being so uncooperative!

This isn't cool

Added another 3.1 today as part of a Triathlon  So twas a  3.1 miles  Brick run that hurt  . With a hard sprint finish to take someone 30 yds ahead of me in the last 100 meters .   No idea where i placed yet as results are not up yet . But looking at the runners on the out and back course about middle of the pack.

Thanks, it isn't cool.  I took a full mary plan and used the first 13 weeks for this half mary build.  The first few weeks I stuck with my Oly plan and only had 3 runs/week.  Didn't go to 4 runs/week until after the last tri when I could bck off the bike volume (man I miss that bike time!)  Obviously the body doesn't appreciate the increase in running sessions or distance.  SIGH...For the record, I am starting to dislike running and those who have been around me a while will find that very hard to believe.

My heel started hurting after I jumped from 2x to 3x per week going from 5k to 10k. I was just starting to enjoy running again. I feel your pain

We could taser her hips, to see if that helps.

(What? I thought that was a constructive approach.)

Running is probably the least forgiving of the 3 sports about increasing intensity , mileage and/or  distance too suddenly.

Take it a Your pace and stay healthy .

Would that be something like electrostim? Could be helpful!

Sorry to hear about all the injuries.

TOTALLY agree with Paul.  Take it at your pace and make sure you're taking recovery days (notice how very little I've been running since the marathon ).

I'd also recommend heart rate (HR) training.  Other than some mild plantar faciitus, I've stayed fairly injury free since starting HR training over a year ago (controls the amount of time that you push your body above your lactate threshold -- where I feel most injuries occur).  I find that you need to have a pretty solid base before starting speedwork.  BT has VERY good HR training plans (you may need to be a Silver member to access some of the plans).

Good luck all...like Paul said...STAY HEALTHY!

All I did was add 1 session/ week in with the volume an additional 3-4 miles adds.  I am SLOW as molasses anyway.  Obviously not going to get any faster at this stage of the game....

5.8 miles of hill repeats on the treadmill...heart rate crept up to almost 170...I hate hill workouts...

sdbryant - 2009-10-18 3:06 PM Hi team.  I need to modify my goal for the month.  :-(  I need to look at my plan and see what I can salvage of it.  I've been down for most of the week with the piggy flu and not able to run...over even bathe myself really.  Could use some happy thoughts and prayers since I'm feeling overwhelmingly undertrained going into Ironman Arizona in a month...  So it goes.

Anyway, nice job to all of you.  You're doing some awesome running!

Bummer.  Sorry to hear about the swine flu.  Important thing is to rest up and make sure they're keeping a pretty close eye on you.  Worry about IMAZ after you're all be'er...

So my goal is based on 15 minute "trainer/elliptical" sessions...  however, the equipment is at werk
& I seem to be spending all day at my desk and "running" out of the building at the end of the day...

Question:  Would it be fair to substitute a 30 minute walk... it's twice the amount of time to make up for the lost calories.

AND... after just completing a 30 minute walk, I've found out it's just as therapeutic for my knee

What do y'all think?  Perhaps I should copy this post to the October thread so those from other teams can weigh in?
