Running has become by far my favorite discipline and when I get sick of triathlons I think I'd like to give ultras a try. Happy New Year everyone, and happy running! Great job on the 1500 miles. I got out this morning and broke my 1200 miles. I like the idea of 1500 and am going to try for it in 2011. Actually got a few points this morning, started out at 34F, finished at 30F. Thanks Lenny! Great job meeting your goal too! Hope you get some more snow on those XC ski trails. |

Champion 10019 , Minnesota | Subject: RE: Crappy Winter Weather Challenge 2010-2011 Woo-hoo, got sleeted on during today's long run. I think the challenge next year should be based on the "feels like" temp. Yeah, 21 degrees sounds nice, but it "felt like" 12 - and boy, did it. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: Crappy Winter Weather Challenge 2010-2011 nichip - 2010-12-31 11:44 AM Well, it is cold here in Iowa. I ran in ice pellets this morning! sorta' like hail, except smaller. Fortunately, I wasn't running into the wind much on the route I took today. Seemed like the wind picked up when the pellets were coming down the most. It was 40 yesterday here. I was curled up on my cozy couch, crocheting with my daughter(near a warm fire) when it started. My wonderful children were encouraging me. " Come on, Mom, POINTS!!!" It was 12 degrees and I figured I better get out there before it got warmer! I needed this run, today. For those of you who like a challenge- there is a FREEZE YOUR GIZZARD RUN. in Minnesota coming up in January. I just want the hoody that states.... ONLY the BOLD RUN COLD!!!! Have a safe and Happy New YEar, everyone! We are staying snug and warm at home...now for some hot chocolate. Nichi Sounds like a cool hoody but it might be a little far to go to Minnesota to pick one up. |

Thanks Bill, That must be from spending too much time with Brewer We got an inch of fresh snow this morning, hoping that will help the ski trails, still icy from the rain last week. |

We need to make him worry a little - we don't want him slacking before the birkie!!! Nice bike ride. Good thing I don't bike outside in the winter, that would be more points. |

Extreme Veteran 464 Sault Ste (Siberia) Marie | Subject: RE: Crappy Winter Weather Challenge 2010-2011 The cold is back finally, lower 20's down into the upper teens and snow. I had a great run last night and I will be out again this afternoon both running and on my bike doing some bricks. Should be back in the points chase in no time. Almost forgot the points for the New Years Eve Polar Bear I did. River isn't quite frozen over, but we were jumping off the docks at the marina boat launch and swimming back to shore. Probably the coldest 100 ft I have ever swam. Last year the river was frozen so it was the more traditional jump in the hole in the ice and crawl back out. That wasn't too bad, but this was miserable. Edited by charles-goff 2011-01-04 9:40 AM |

Elite 3471 Evergreen, CO | Subject: RE: Crappy Winter Weather Challenge 2010-2011 I'm finally back after a couple weeks of xmas and NYE party prepping. Got some decent hikes in while the weather was cold last weekend Unfortunately I'm back to trying to build my run time again -- a whopping 14 minutes today! And temps are climbing back into the 40s this week. We got our 2nd day of snow so far this winter but I was shopping and driving and painting and cleaning so no training. At this point I'm just trying not to be DFL in this challenge. |
