Stake - 2006-06-13 7:54 AM I drop my bike and gear bag off with Tribike Transport in about an hour.  I guess it really is right around the corner
I'm using them also. I drop off on Thursday. Kind of nervous about it, but I figure there would be a better chance of bike getting lost by airline than by truck.

I wouldn't worry- I've heard some great things about them.  I e-mailed them yesterday with a kind of "hey, I need to know asap if I can ship a spare front wheel w/my bike, sorry for being an idiot and waiting until the last minute..." type thing.  They got back to me in about 13 minutes

BTW, you can ship a spare front wheel with the bike if you want to

Actually, I have the Zoot transition bag, so I prolly could fit it.  But...  I just wanted to have an option incase the weather is not conducive to riding a deep dish front.  Decision time on that one will be Sat right before I drop the bike off.  I won't actually have a spare wheel in transition, but that would be pretty funny.  Actually, now that I think about it, would it be wrong to bring a spare bike with me?  Ya know, just in case

Hello Everyone-

There is a bike shop close to race central at corner of 3rd and Coeur d'Alene Avenue.  Just two blocks up and one over from CDA Resort.  Should have anything you might forget (owner is doing IMCDA).  Name is Mike Gaertner and a good guy.  There is also a Fleet Feet on Sherman between 5th and 6th for any other needs.  Owner is Garth, also a really good guy.

Weather update.....

we will have some!

How much do those shops sell full body armor and a trolling motor for?

Picked up my new wheelset, set them up, tried them out, and boxed up everything for the race. It's on its way out to Insidesports in Idaho as I type. Actually, its probably sitting in some back corner of the UPS depot but still...Yippee!!! I guess I'll be putting in all my rides on the road bike for the next little bit.

My bike is all cleaned up, pedals off, and ready to get dropped off for TriBikeTransport as well.  Can't say as I'm sad to see it go.  Hello spining class.

Hi,

Just wanted to say good luck to all of you! I had to drop out due to injury. I really wish I was there to participate, however, I will be there as a volunteer and to cheer all of you on as you become an Ironman.

Again, good luck and see you all soon

Kendra

Haven't checked the rules but I am guessing that trolling motor is not okay, but body armor probably is.  Might make swimming a bit more difficult.  Good call by Spence on nail trimming....have a friend who has a nice scar on the side of his neck from someone else's nail.

I am going to get a picture of the clock tower posted so we all know where to meet!

They are supposed to be assigned today.  The last two IMNA events I did (1/2's !) they got posted a few days after they assigned them.

Here's hoping for a 3 digit number - isn't going to happen though, they all go to the younger guys.  I hate having marker from my wrist to my shoulder!

#76 - in the house!!

Horrible weather today.  Rained from early am and all through the day.  10 day forecast looks much more encouraging!

I'm starting to bounce off the walls already.  I should just take until 6/25 off from work as I am being sooo incredibly productive.

Found some tips for everyone on the incredibly pathetic forum attached to the CDA site:

1- Wake up race morning and eat a HUGE breakfast. CDA is known for its' cusine so try somewhere exotic you have never been before!
2- Take a bottle of Ibuprofen with your breakfast...prevents race swelling
3-On the Swim start HUG the buoys and get right at the front. go HARD at the start- after all it is called IRONman.
4- Sprint thru transition
5- Only take 1-2 energy bars on your bike. You can find them at aid stations can even bum off other riders...who knows, it could even be some really fun flavor you've never had!
6- go HARD on the first bike loop...try to pass everyone you see...especially on the climbs.
7- Spare tubes just weigh you down
8- So do CO 2's
9- Sprint thru transition- ignore those people with sponges and sunblock
10- Only take about 1 gel on the run...again you can bum off others...after all we are ALL IN THIS TOGETHER MAN!
11- More Ibuprofen on the run

I can see why you would leave work if you are being productive. Maybe more time on BT will help cure that

Everybody-

I think right now we should just sit back and relax. You won't gain anymore fitness right now. The main thing is that you are mentally ready to race next Sunday. DON'T STRESS!

If you make the bike cutoff, you will finish. That is the most important thing. Everything after that is gravy, especially if this is your first IM.

Have beer and I will see you all in a week!

I haven't had a beer in about 2 months.  I did, however, just eat an entire rotisserie chicken and a bowl of gumbo for lunch.  Mmmm beer....
