If you join strava or a similar site you can have a great time tracking your improvements or virtually racing against others on different segments. The swim data the 910 provides is great. Enjoy. Big congratulations on the 70.3!!! I finally joined the January challenge with 30 minute each of swim, treadmill and bike. I also bought a Garmin 910 XT with an unanticipated government refund due to overpayment of FICA in 1996 (plus interest!!!). I stuffed up with my garmin so i have no splits. My swim was around 50min, bike 3hrs and run around 2 hrs. all the extra training and help from the group is what got me that times. i was gunning for under 6hrs and i think thats what i did. I felt good almost all run till around the 17km mark. 5km of the run was along the beach which was hard. the ride was fast out but strong head wind on the way back. No RR till i get back home in a few weeks. Now to enjoy time with the kids Impressive, I can't imagine doing a Half IM, but maybe someday. Way to go! |

I did have my first ever chiro sessions (two) in the last 2 weeks, just because someone told me I needed adjusted. All my runs were going reasonably well until about the last 2 weeks, off and on. Now, in the 13th week of training, I'm really struggling. It's not fun anymore, I'm feeling worn out. I am on a 55 mile/wk plan. I have had to cut two runs short in the last 10 days due to just not being in the groove. If this is normal, I'll just ignore it. If not, any ideas/suggestions on what to do about it? Jackie Jackie - Running 6x will burn you out and is a lot of frequency for a first marathon. While I designed a 6x week plan for my fall marathon, I always had one day I could opt out of whether it be for mental or physical rest. Sometimes I needed it after a big week others times not so. How are doing in terms of varying workouts? Are you doing speed, tempo, hill, LSD runs? I looked at your logs and it seems like you are running a number of longer repeat runs in a week at the same pace. I found that different run workouts helped to break up the monotony. Actually, they are different workouts. I have attached this past week's schedule. I will be doing the long run today. Thanks! My Hanson HM plan is of a similar structure (6 days per week) but speed is limited to Tues (intervals) and Thurs (tempo). Other 4 runs, including the long run on Sunday are all at easy pace. Speed intervals are at 5k to 10k pace and tempo runs are at HM pace. Granted the longest Run is 15 miles...so there are some important nuances between their full and half plans. My longest week is 52 miles. I might suggest backing off on the intensity of some of the runs, but not sure exactly where...E? Chris?
