Be careful increasing your mileage. It's the easiest way to get injured.

... Can't wait to be like you big dogs and running 100 miles a month!

Hey everyone! Great work on the training so far! A couple of days to go lets finish off strong!

Anyway, I am back from my injury/layoff (wisdom tooth extraction) so I've lost another 5 days. Overall I've lost 9 days from this month, so my adjust goal (down from 11.5) is 8.2 hours. I'll adjust the worksheet.

That is so far away it isn't even funny. 35 miles for me is huge. I thought 30 was going to be tough!!

Gradual build-up is the name of the game.... It's taken me quite a while to build up to where I am now, and slow & steady increase is definitely the way to go to avoid injury.

Keep up the good work!!

I'm just over 22 hours and have less than an hour to go.

Went for long walk today as I tweaked my right knee doing my first crossfit class yesterday and wanted to be cautious running on it. May do a short run later during soccer driving time if it feels okay.

Great job everyone..keep running!

I second, third or whatever watch increasing your volume...you may get away with it early on but in time you will get injured. As impressive as 100 mile month is for someone, your personal best or your best given where you are is impressive too! Don't get caught up in something easy to do here on BT feeling that others are better, faster, ect than you because of x, y and z. We each are here from a different place, celebrate all you can do.

I know many of us in this challenge, used to be overweight, couch potato types, some smoked but most of us looking back some 2,  some 5, some 8 years ago were completely different people being heavier and sedentary and unable to do all this cool stuff we do.

Dream big and train smart!

Hey pumpkins, this morning I adjusted my goal for the days that I was sick.  Original goal of 28 miles became 23.5 due to 5 days unable to train.

Went out for 2 easy miles this afternoon to test out the lungs and I survived, though I've been hacking a little bit more since I got back.  Finished off the last bit I needed to hit my sick-adjusted goal, so it served its purpose.  I have no more runs on the calendar this month

Now it's time to figure out what my November goal is going to be!

Finish off those miles, pumpkins!

Woot a couple more finished.  We may pull this thing off yet.

I totally agree with the slower build up.  Let me see in January of 2008 I ran 30 miles and was in a challenge with someone who was prepping for a marathon.  I think he was doing 150 miles and I was all... never.  I told my wife, some guy in our challeng is doing 150 miles omg(osh) that's crazy far.  So guess how far I am running next month, a yups 150 miles. As you run farther you do get a little faster, which makes it easier to build up the miles.  But ya keep with it and keep healthy.  One significant injury and you lose a lot.

Everyone is doing great!  It is almost time for me to go do 11 miles in mid 30's F temps tonight, nice and overcast, slingtly damp.  I think I will overdress to stay toasty warm and peal my windproof shell as needed.

3+ miles in for today making 23 sessions. 2 more days, 2 more to go. Will hit 100% - concluding my fifth week of half marathon training. YES!
Thanks run challenge for kick-starting my run prep for HIM 2010! And for all the inspiration you pumpkins have been spreading.
Biggest mile month for me this year - a lot of it was walking, was very careful to start running only at level I was already at, and have been ever so gradually increasing run minutes. Still have a long way to go for 13 mile mark...

I have about 2-1/2 hours to go to make goal and I see about 1-1/2 hours of that happening so it doesn't look like I will be at 100%.  Sorry teamies.

My goal was 110 miles so even with the sick day I was able to make the full 110 + 14.  I only missed one run.  So 100 % here all good.  I wasn't sure how much I would get in after my race.

Got my last run in this morning in a light drizzle - a very pleasant trail run with a group of friends. 9.5 miles puts me over the top for the month! Yay!
