Bring on the V02s! I have a budget Didn't end up riding the Orbea as it is a 74/76 seatpost angle and I want more of 78/80. Spent about 1+ hours with fit guy and he looked at my fit done by someone else at another shop. He is going to get Felt built up, check the Guru and Orbea, and then next Wed I'll bring one home to test ride. They are closed Monday/Tuesday for Passover. |

So then I guess the P4 with Di2 is off the list then How did the P3 fit for you? Shop I went to today suggested doing a fit and change the seat tube angle and see how it effects my power to optimize what position is most comfortable and my power is optimal. Need to ride the P3 longer..big change in position from what I ride now which is the goal. Felt good...it was just a bike shop and I brought my saddle height and reach and they set it up that way quickly so fit would need to dialed in to really know. So many bikes, so many shops to consider buying from...issue for me is the 3-4 shops I do most of my business with and get a discount at either don't carry tri bikes in brands I'd consider buying or they aren't good at fitting. So I'm looking at other shops but it is the dance you play when you go there and talk bikes what you are looking for, how do they fit, do I think they will do a good job, and on it goes. There is another shop I may go that specializes in tri bike fits and have him tell me what my reach and stack should be which will help me know which bikes would be good choices for me to consider and he sells Cervelos and Kestrels. So many choices... |

Took it out on a long ride today. So happy. It was a big upgrade from my entry level Trek. Have fun bike shopping! I look forward to seeing what you settle on. |

Master 1779 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread After a rough March things are finally staring to come back together again. I almost threw up when I saw everyone else's monthly totals compared to mine. lol...But we've still got 215 days til IMFL. Plenty of time to start back up and rebuild what was lost last month. I'm really glad this is my 2nd IM. I'm not as panicked as I would have been at this time last year given the circumstances. |

Veteran 287 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Training has been going really well for me. I did my bike test today outside . So nice to be off the trainer. I've worked really hard on the bike this year and even though the tough intervals on the trainer sucked on some days I stucked with it . New FTP of 212 ! Happy with that for now. We'd I have another run test. I've bought Newton and so far I'm really impressed ! They are so comfortable and have noticed my run form improving which mean's faster runs and less injury. Good luck on your training everybody ! Don't overtrain yet 'cause injuries will zap any gain in speed you think you will get.. Nathalie |

I'm trying to figure out what plan I'm going to use. I know there are a few books out there such as Be Iron Fit and Going Long, but I'm also debating just using the BT plan and maybe tweaking it. Don't really have any idea yet. |

I'll be using this plan, but rearranging the days a little bit to fit life and the kid's schedules. Also won't be staring it right away as I have a HIM on April 25th. After that race, I'll start following the plan from there. It seems to have worked for those that have used it before. |

Member 34 Philly | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I'll be working with the plan in the 'Going Long' book. But as mentioned above, I'll be tweaking it to fit into real world situation with wife and kids and limited training time. I've started building a base only, and haven't bothered with putting in too much time in duration yet. So strength, some intervals, training in different zones for swimming and running. Haven't had too much time on the bike yet, but that is my strongest area, and will come together as the season progresses. I've also been focusing a lot on nutrition, and changing my eating habits now, so it's burned in come race day. It's amazing how many different factors there are to consider and balance when training for such an event! Good luck to everyone! |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I'm using a coach for my training for IMFL and the year. I started working with him in December and it's going well. I've used a coach since '05. I like having someone else to put my plan together, see the big picture, adjust things as needed and discuss what's going on in my training. |

Things have been happening around me these last few months that are good and bad. I will have more free time to prepare for the race...no more night classes is a positive...the negative distractions I won't go into...just got to get my head on straight... Focusing on Gulf Coast May 8th...see how I do w/ one month to prepare... |

Regular 75 Liverpool, England | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Just had my first outdoor swim of the year this morning. Boy was it cold, actually make that freezing! Air temp was 48F (9C) so not sure what the lake was. Managed to do about 1 mile although I'd lost the use of my hands by the time I got out. Glad I did though. I now realise I've got quite a bit of work to do on my swimming even though I'm a swimmer! Hope everyone is having a good weekend. |

I'm back running again and haven't been getting any problems with it, although I'm still being cautious and am just increasing the mileage slowly. It turns out it was all down to a very old ankle injury! My brain was/is still thinking there's a problem so has been compensating, which has caused other problems including the hip issues that knocked me out of IMNZ. I've been working hard with my physio to try and put everything right once and for all so hopefully I won't get any problems when the training ramps up. |

I agree with Jen a good coach that is a solid fit makes training more positive for me on many levels. I hope it works out well for you. Funny you mention your weekly volume I have been having 15-19 hour weeks and we are more than 6 months out from IM. I'm fine with it and do have 2 or 3 70.3s approaching so it's good. I looked back at my volume before IM Canada and I'm doing about the same now as I did the 1-3 months before that race but spread of volume is different now...I'm doing more 40-60 mile rides no rides over 4 hours same with runs 5x a week runs but longest runs are 2 hours or less. For IM training is the hard part not the race. I like doing long training rides and runs so IM training agrees with me. |

Expert 1139 Austin | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I wanted to get in a 50 mile ride today but the weather was pretty dismal this morning and hasn't really cleared up. I could only stand about 1.25 hours on the trainer so I'm a bit disappointed. However I am happy with my run mileage this week, hopefully I can do two 15 mile+ weeks to close out April. |
