Ok, that's it I'm moving.  I don't know where yet, but any of those pics look better than the long rainy winters we have here.  But, then again, it is, according to the ads, "The best place on Earth"...

Ha! Me too. Check out this amazing race photo. Sums up what I deal with on a daily basis:

You're convincing me not to move to Seattle. Haha.

Wife is in the AF and we're coming up for PCS soon.  We have the ability to stay put in Destin but we're thinking about other locations as well. McChord AFB had been mentioned in the past as a possibility.

Maybe not. Tongue out

That's pretty amazing.  I only have about 3200 posts to go and then we'll be even.

Dengue, typhoid, and chikungunya ... in just a few protracted dread diseases, you, too, can be BT's top poster!

You're like a text book on crazy infectious diseases!

BLECH indeed.

I am now (I suppose not so secretly) confessing I've been pretty sick the last two days ... don't even want Pop Tarts, which means I should have called an ambulance yesterday.

I'm terrible at seeking medical help when appropriate ... I'll see how it goes tomorrow. But anyway, that's why I haven't been posting much of late ...

Yanti, you not wanting PopTarts is a very bad sign.  Also, it is Friday, which means you will probably not see a doctor until next week.  Is there anyone you can see over the weekend?

Oh dear. I see new motherhood has not affected your razor-sharp perception anyway ... I was hoping to slink under the radar with that ...

Yes, there are people I can see over the weekend, although you're right, I probably won't. Also, it's twice as expensive. But I really really will go if I need to. I promise. Okay, I probably needed to today, but ... sigh. I won't let the money dictate whether I see a doc tomorrow, okay?

Thank you for caring ... really ... and I needed the flipper thwack on the azz, because you know how I am about going.

Will you at least try to take it easy this weekend?  ie, no elephant riding or swimming to the hidden underwater cave in the middle of the ocean to find pirate gold or whatever crazy adventure you have planned for this weekend.

Haha, nah, it's really not that bad. I just like to complain. I have done quite a bit of traveling and the summers here are simply amazing.

Let me know if you ever come up for a visit. I can take you around Seattle.

Good luck Claire and Felicia and anyone else who may be racing!

If I get out on the 'yak tomorrow I will post some of them to show how pretty PA can be and how blessed I am to live in this part of the world.  Don't get me wrong, I'd take Bali or Florida any day, well, at least as long as I am near water!  Seattle, though, just doesn't look too fun with all that rain, sorry Adrienne!

I guess if we're posting up pictures of where we live...

Not as much of a paradise as Bali but I'm not complaining.

Destin, FL

This is my hometown, Newburyport, MA. This is the mouth of the Merrimack River, about 4 miles from the beach.  I live about 15 miles inland now, but my hubby and I are planning to move back to the 'Port within the year.  We just love it there.  Winters suck, but it's beautiful in the summer.

Good luck Claire, Kirstin and Felicia on your races this weekend.

Yanti, you sicko, if you need to see a quack, suck it up and see one.

Salty, another weekend of pub runs, really? I have the number of someone if you need 'help'.

Artemis, hope the little one gives you a good nights rest. I have been there, done that and am now stupid enough to be doing again with the grand kids when they sleep over. Will we never learn?

To all of you who live in beautiful parts of the world, enjoy. To the rest of of, seek out the finest of what you have and you will find it inspiring when you realise just how good it actually is.

just finished a marathon.......................session at the All you can eat Chinese restaurant. now finishing the wine at home before bed.

Tomorrow i am going on a Triathlon coaching session. Who would have thought that me and coaching would appear in the same sentence. Best thing is that it is FREE, offered through the British Triathlon Federation after i signed up for my race. It is for 6 hours and i can't wait. Will let you know what it's like.

Just finished my FIRST bike ride (outside) as a clipped-in, padded shorts-wearin', pace-trackin triathlete! It went pretty well, it was just an easy 8 miles becuase I have computraining at 7am tomorrow.  But I did have quite a few too-close-for-comfort passes by drivers...I really didn't realize how rude/clueless people are.  I kept my anger to myself, though, and just tried to stay vigilant.  It's scary, though - a guy from my tri club got sideswiped on last Saturday's group ride (I wasn't there) and got knocked unconscious.  Fortunately, he was home from the hospital that day and is ok.  And the driver never even stopped.

Brie, congrats on the ride. The maiden voyage can be exhilarating, scary, fun, and everything else under the sun. Glad you were careful and safe. I ride home from work a few times every week. The first 7 miles are highway miles, then I cut off into neighborhoods and MUP's. Sometimes I think the highway is safer, since there is a bike lane on ours. Other times I watch people text, drive, phone call, etc. and it scares the skittles out of me. I find that group rides are generally safer, so I'm surprised yours had a sideswiping. Ouch, I hope he is OK.

BIG congrats!!  And yes, always assume people will do something stupid.  Expect it.  And yes, be super vigilant, watchful and smart and hopefully you will stay safe!  Pick smart, safe routes.  Take a cell phone and have ID.  Talk to animals as you pass, especially cows.   Say hi to other bikers or walkers (you never know if you will pass them again and/or need their help).  Enjoy riding outside; aside from cars, it really is a wonderful, enjoyable experience overall.

The office closed early today, company bought everyone opening day tickets to the KC Royals home opener.  They got shelled for 7 runs in the first, never recovered.  During all that I was hammering away on the bike fighting the KS winds.  I was pleasantly surprised with my average speed given the winds.  A good ride for me and my legs were fried after that ride :P

Good luck on your races Felicia and Claire!

Woohoo! I got my sleeveless wetsuit today (early birthday present from the husband!)! I'm wearing the full wetsuit on Sunday at the Icebreaker triathlon, cause the water will be in the low/mid 50s (brr). At least the forecast calls for sun and 70s! I still say this will be the best way to spend my 36th birthday (and yet I still claim I am turning 25...go figure.)---also, its going to be a day off of work!

I read all the posts of today and yesterday, but I admit it, I am just too sleepy to write anything coherent tonight. Goodnight all!Laughing

Awesome!  Riding outside is WAY better than on the drainer, but yes, it can be nerve wracking.  As others have said, expect drivers to not be looking for you.  If I have any doubts that the driver has seen me, I stop.  Sorry to hear about the guy who got hit, that's terrible!  Glad he is ok.

I couldn't find a graphic of a Manatee in a wetsuit, so ...

GOOD LUCK KIRSTEN!!!

Remember to pull your wetsuit up so tightly in the crotch it feels like a stripper's G-string. Bad analogy? But it's true!

I will go to dinner with the surf piglets tonight and listen to their war stories while they hang around shirtless. And perhaps go to the beach with them tomorrow morning. But I won't do anything more than lazy paddling.

And great advice from Melanie, all of it, and one more thing: MAKE SURE SOMEONE KNOWS APPROX. WHERE YOU'RE GOING AND WHEN YOU EXPECT TO BE BACK.

Better than a buffet, you order off the menu, anything you want, as often as you want, and  it is all cooked fresh each time. There were ten of us celebrating my sons new job and after we had wrecked two huge mixed starter platters, we just ordered two more as they were so good. After allowing a little time for digestion, with everyone feeling full, we went on to order 13 main courses plus chips and rice, after which we re-ordered a couple more of our favourites. The mussels in green pepper and black bean sauce were awesome.

Got to get ready for coaching now. ooh, so excited. And slightly worried as the timetable has a 2 hour swim session at the end and i can only swim for 20 minutes. Hope it's a misprint.
