I am bundled in a blanket with little dog on my lap.  It is in the 20s here.  Brrr!   But it is dry so the roads aren't bad.

I saw this morning that Seattle was having record cold temps, and wondered how you were doing.

Morning Ghoulies.

Anne, LOVE the dragon. I expect Keri could manage that one. Now about those ponies.....

Dee, it is 70 degrees here today! However, tomorrows high is in the 50s then Sundays High is expected to be 35. I am hoping to get out and get a hobble/walk in today while it is nice.

I had a morning docs appointment, some work now and in a few minutes, I am heading to PT.

Last night we had the annual Chamber of commerce (for  the tiny towns of Chimney Rock and Lake Lure). As usual, it was okay, but so poorly organized it is sad. They have been doing this for years and do the same stupid things each time. We had fun, and my foot didn't hurt too much at all. Though, I was so stylin in one high heel and one "boot: cast".

Work calls,

HAPPPY FFFFriday back at you all.

Good morning Ghoulies! When I got home yesterday there was a voicemail from the fraud detection department at my bank, they asked me to call them. I called. Apparently someone had been trying to use my check card across Europe over the past 2 days. They asked if I had tried to spend this much here, and that much there. I had not. So, my card has been cancelled, and I will be reimbursed the amount stolen. I have more problems with my check card at Christmas. Grrr last year I lost my entire wallet at Christmas. Now this I still have a little shopping to do. Guess I'll have to use my credit card to finish up. People who steal suck!

Keri's basketball season started today. Her team won 32-12. WOOT!

Keri has a nasty cold though, I kept her home from practice last night, she started the game today. She played well, despite at times being the smallest kid on the court. Late in the 3rd quarter she got elbowed so hard by a big girl on the other team that it lifted her up off her feet. She said when she hit the ground someone kicked her. It was a very physical game. Keri was done. Both of her coaches are physical therapists so they checked her out pretty good. It looked like their concern was collar bone, or shoulder. She has a bruise on her shoulder, she's sore, but she'll be ok.

There is a 6th grader on her team, the other point guard, that talks tough, but she likes Keri. She beat the crap out of the girl that hurt Keri. She was ALL over her, another girl on our team got pretty physical after Keri got hurt, too. I'm not big on violence, but I was glad to see our girls start to give back what they were taking the whole game. It was nice to see the older girls look out for one of the younger ones, too. We play in a tough league, and we're a small school. All of the games will be physical this year, hopefully no one else gets hurts though.

GO EAGLES!

Wow.  Keri is one tough kid.  Sorry to hear about all the violence at the games.  I just don't understand why people think it is okay to teach or allow kids to get away with behavior like that.  I always told my kids that I would not wait for the coach or ref to pull them from a game.  I would do it if they played in a negative way.

So yesterday I did the shopping for the holiday party we are throwing for the students that work the Library Service Desk on Tuesday.  Finished making the candies and fudge also.  Today hubby helped me take it all into work so that we don't have to try and do it in the morning.  Found out that my key card will not work on the loading dock door on the weekends.  Had to call and get security to buzz us in.  Now I just need to finish the gifts for all the librarians who work the desk.  They are getting a cloth candy basket with candy in it, along with a small container of sugar scrub.  It has been a busy weekend getting all of this ready.  23 students, 13 librarians, 4 staff and my boss totals 41 little gifts to have put together,  I told Frank I'll have to budget more time and money next year for xmas at work.

Good morning Ghoulies!

We got about 4" of snow yesterday, and we are getting a layer of ice on top of it right now. I'm working from home.

The kiddos have a 2 hour delay, but thy already had it scheduled anyway, so nothing has changed for them. The ice is supposed to turn to rain at some point in time, not sure when though. Caleb is supposed to have his first basketball game today, we'll see if that happens or not.

Keri was supposed to have a game yesterday, but all games were postponed. I'm glad. Her shoulder is still sore, and her cold is worse. We stayed inside in the warm yesterday.

She really is a tough kid.

There are some schools, and it doesn't matter what kids are playing, or what sport, you can always expect a physical game from them. Why is that? I would prefer to see a clean game played with skill than a dirty slug fest. I wouldn't tolerate it as a coach. I'm glad our girls stepped up though and not only dished out what they were receiving, they pulled away with the score. The other team was full of poor sportsmen, the more they began to lose, the more physical game they started to play. How about if you're losing you start playing basketball? With all that other crap you're giving us free points with foul shots, and you run the risk of your players fouling out of the game. Some of the junk was called, but not all of it.

Here's hoping for a better game next week.

Good morning Ghoulies.

Ann - saw some of the snow in the football games that were broadcast yesterday.  Made me laugh, the teams in the south all want domes, and then you go and see some of the teams like Minnesota and PA, and they are out there in the weather.  Teams in the south need to toughen up.  Atlanta already had a dome, but now they want a new one.  And they aren't even that good of a team to make demands, yet it sounds like they are going to get their way.

Robin - hope you had a great weekend.  Is your house all decorated for the holiday?  I know it always looks so pretty.

Dee - hope you survived the cold weather you've been getting.  Hope your weekend was good also.

And to all those missing Ghoulies - we miss you.

It's awesome how much time, energy, and $ you spent on Christmas gifts for the library folks. I think you're guaranteed a lifetime spot on Santa's NICE list!

Since Wynn can no longer go hiking with me, and Milo just doesn't have the stamina to go on 6-10 mile hikes we have discussed getting a young German Shepherd. I would like a companion to go running and hiking with me.

I have contacted several rescues, and some of them make it too damn difficult to adopt a dog. The one that has the dog I am most interested in wants permission to inspect my house, at any time, unannounced, AFTER the dog is adopted by us. Um.... no. If I adopt the dog he is mine, not yours. They also want you to list the names and addresses of the people that will care for your dog in case you die before the dog, so they can inspect their house, too. Um... no. There are other silly things like that. I will give a dog a great home. He will be loved. He will be happy. Don't make it so difficult. I understand you want to dogs to find furever homes, and all, but by demanding some of the things these rescues demand they really eliminate some good homes for the animals.

I had that with the last cat that I adopted.  They visited the house before releasing the cat to me, but I never saw them again afterwards.  Personally I don't think you have anything to worry about.  Once they see all the happy animals at your house, they would give you a green light.

Good morning Ghoulies!

Another 4-6" of snow in the forecast for today. I'm WFH!

Caleb was supposed to have his first basketball game yesterday. Got to the school, was walking to the gym, when other parents I know were walking towards me. They told me there was no game, they were having practice instead. Don't know what it was postponed, but it was. They are supposed to play it today, but with snow in the forecast I'm not going to hold my breath.

Just finished playing Santa.  Delivered all the goodies to the librarians desks so they will find them when they come in this morning.  And today is the party for the students.  It is also tomorrow because we know that not all the students can make it here at the same time.  Finals start tomorrow for them.  So glad that I'm not having to take finals.

I want to go sledding.  Saw my sled in the shed when I was working in the yard this weekend.  It will need some wax for the runners.  Otherwise it is good to go.

Good Morning Ghoulies!  Right now we have some snow.  Don't think it will last, but it did delay schools.  DH called from work and said it was super slick out.  But I don't leave for a while yet, so we will see what happens.

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
