Jo, it looks like you've found some nice motivation there:)

Pull-ups are really great.  I love them.  Experiment with your hand width and bar diameter--I'm fairly picky about both and think it makes a big difference.  I also prefer to do mine over handed, but I will sometimes do one hand over one hand under for a set and then switch--requires some different stability muscles.

Another thing that really helps me on these is to think of using my big muscle groups, and drawing the lats back and down.  It's the same principle as swimming, and thinking about it is equates to being able to do 2-3 more pull-ups/set for me.

This cannot be emphasized enough.

Swimming is not done by the arms pulling and the legs kicking. The arms are anchor points and the legs are levers for the large core trunk muscles to be doing the powerhouse work.

I have an event this Friday at 5:15 that is in my calendar as 4 emoticon pandas and that's it. No other details. Any ideas?

I literally laughed out loud at work.  And then relayed it to my coworkers who were also entertained.

BAHAHAHA

All sorts of really inappropriate comments come to mind ...

Actually it reminds me of when I used to post shyte in CoJ from my (handwritten) date book and nobody else could figure it out, either.

lol...I remember that.  Those were awesome posts.

Add me to the list of people needing new jobs. As of December 1st, I get to join the ranks of unemployed PhDs. Boss is being forced into retirement, and my best option is to find a new job.

SO! If you or someone you know would like to hire a PhD with skills in molecular biology, bioinformatics (programming side and bench side), pulmonology/cardiology, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know!

I thought I'd share something my niece posted on FB yesterday. This is the niece who courageously battled cancer and started running when her chemo was done. Just recently she got my old 10 speed and immediately became an avid cyclist...

A little jingle I made up today...

A rainy day with such might
Hides today’s sunlight.
I see there is no end in sight,
I just want to ride my bike tonight.

Sheets of rain and I don’t care,
It’s just a little water and air.
It comes in spurts and now it’s fair
... Off I go with something warm to wear.

In the rain and I don’t mind,
I am no longer confined.
I pedal fast to unwind
And leave my day behind.

I’m soaking wet
And I don’t regret
What a rush I won’t forget

A rainy day with such might
There was no end in sight
I rode my bike tonight
And it just felt so right!
feeling happy.

We don't.  DH's company has offices in Wilmington/Philly, Chicago, and DC, too, so those would be the easiest places to go.  We are, however, open to pretty much anywhere.

First of all TJ, I didn't properly thank you for the TT push.  Thanks :)

Secondly, WTF? You so crazy girl!  That is a fachload of races. I would never be able to do that.  I think I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum, and I really admire those of you who just load up.  I get serious performance anxiety.  I'd be a mess with that schedule.  Do you race all of those, or do you have the very enviable I'm just going to hang out and do this for fun gene?

Those of you that remember Tracy may get a kick out of her RR. It includes a marriage proposal:
