As the Challenge organizer, I get people asking me about revising goals due to injury. I evaluate the circumstances, and make a "ruling." But this month, I'm the one having problems. So I'm going to ask YOU guys what you think. Here's the deal:
My shoulder has been bothering me when I swim.
(This started back around October, because I went all out on a Swim Challenge. My doctor thought it was a tendonitis. However, it's never really gone away.
)...
I was pretty much OK at the beginning of the month. The shoulder was a little "tweaky" but I figured I'd be able to swim OK. However, for the last 2 weeks, it's been hurting pretty much nonstop. And swimming has been making it worse.
It's bad enough that I've been taking ibuprofen for it. And I HATE taking pain-killers!
The last time I swam was June 17th. And the shoulder has stayed pretty bad since then.
(Although doing some yard work after that sure didn't help.
) Stretching doesn't help. Working the opposing muscles hasn't seemed to help, either.
So here are the options, the way I see it. Let me know which one you think I should do:
1
) HTFU and just go swim until I hit the goal.
2
) Prorate the goal. I swam for 17 days out of 30. So drop June 18-30, and reset the goal to 60% of the original value.
3
) Drop the last 2 workouts that I had planned for this week, and revise the goal to leave these two workouts out.
What do you guys think? I'll go with majority opinion.
