As of this morning, I am at 103% of goal for the month overall!

Happy to help others along with my extra distance.   We're gonna win this thing, aren't we!

6.7 mile run this morning put me over the top.   We'll see what happens the rest of the month, although, I'll be on vacation and actually traveling some of the remaining days so it will be difficult to get workouts in, but I'll do my best.   New GOAL --- 110% all categories!

GO GECKO's!

I finished my bike goal this morning with a little extra.  Rest of the week will be dedicated to the swim, run and abs.  I feel good about this.  Hope everyone has a great day

Finished my running this am. I have an excuse, going on the first family camping trip this weekend with our Church! Should be interesting, up in the mountains, not sure of the shower facilities; so I may get a run in and little mtn bike ride, trading off with the hubby.  I want to spare everyone of the stink...

Did a little over an hour in the pool today.  Only 46 minutes of swimming left.  Shouldn't be a problem to get.  I think I'll end up a little over with the race this weekend.

Got a teeny bike in today - will be over 100% with the race this weekend, and will probably take the bike out on Thursday anyway.

Tomorrow - run & swim.

Got another run in.  Need to recheck the spreadsheet.  I'm really close now

YAY!! I passed the run goal!  106% on it today!!

94% on the swim

90% bike...I didn't look at the core goal cause that's the easiest one to meet

Got another hour done on the bike today.  I really don't like getting out of bed and facing Coach Troy but I have something to do this evening that prevents a real ride tonight.

Doh!  I miscalculated my number before hitting the pool this morning.  I am at 99.6% for swimming.  Drat.  Gonna have to do a bunch of circles in my pool this afternoon or tomorrow.  Gonna finish my run and ab goal by Saturday.  Whew, cuttin' it close.  I can't wait til next week so I can take it easy for a couple of days

Gecko's

Congrats to everyone close to or exceeding goals WTG!!!!!

Today will be a rest day because - well I'm tired - but more because I have my sweet daughter, no baby sitter, and a regular church commitment.  That leaves 5 days to get in 5hrs 14min of training to hit 100%.  I will accomplish this by:

Swim - Thurs eve - 45 min, Fri eve - 45 min, Sat morn - 45 min (Monday AM if needed)

Bike - Sat morn - 1.5 hrs, Sun morn 1 hr (bike to pool on Sat morn and then home - it's supposed to be 80 this weekend!!! woohoo - no rain for two whole weeks!!! - I might be able to get over 100% on the bike cause I like riding

Run - THurs eve minimum of 20 (may finish), Monday eve if needed

I will reach 100 - YAHOO!! AND I've been wanting to exceed 400 training minutes in a week and this week, looks like I'll do that - double Yeah!

NOW - if that dumb dog would stop barking from 1am - 3am so I can sleep better.

Go Gecko's

As the Challenge organizer, I get people asking me about revising goals due to injury. I evaluate the circumstances, and make a "ruling." But this month, I'm the one having problems. So I'm going to ask YOU guys what you think. Here's the deal:

My shoulder has been bothering me when I swim. (This started back around October, because I went all out on a Swim Challenge. My doctor thought it was a tendonitis. However, it's never really gone away.)...

I was pretty much OK at the beginning of the month. The shoulder was a little "tweaky" but I figured I'd be able to swim OK. However, for the last 2 weeks, it's been hurting pretty much nonstop. And swimming has been making it worse.

It's bad enough that I've been taking ibuprofen for it. And I HATE taking pain-killers!

The last time I swam was June 17th. And the shoulder has stayed pretty bad since then. (Although doing some yard work after that sure didn't help.) Stretching doesn't help. Working the opposing muscles hasn't seemed to help, either.

So here are the options, the way I see it. Let me know which one you think I should do:

1) HTFU and just go swim until I hit the goal.
2) Prorate the goal. I swam for 17 days out of 30. So drop June 18-30, and reset the goal to 60% of the original value.
3) Drop the last 2 workouts that I had planned for this week, and revise the goal to leave these two workouts out.

What do you guys think? I'll go with majority opinion.

Dee

I'm good with you modifying the goals - so either 2 or 3. No need to hurt yourself just so I can have my pretty avatar back.

The one you have now is pretty. It's just not, um... you. LOL

(Kind of like how my "zen" one was last month. It was very pretty. But just not evil.... Miss Piggy, on the other hand is bossy glamorous, just like me. HAHAHA!)

No sense causing more injury.  I am fine with #2.  I believe you have been mentioning it in your blogs so I am sure everyone will be fine with it.  Hope you can figure it out.  Big fat bummer for ya.  Rest, rest, rest that shoulder.

#'s 2 or 3 would be my vote.

Doesn't seem worth it to cause further injury.  I guess if someone emailed you the same circumstances what would you do for them?  seems like you've always gone of the side of people taking care of themselves so go take care of yourself and adjust your goals!

I'd give someone else #2.

BUT this is something that's been going on for months. So I've known that it's not a "happy shoulder." So I think there should be some sort of "penalty."

How about this:

I have 2 swim sessions left to hit my goal. So either I do those 2 swim sessions, OR I move the sessions to either the run or strength goals - and increase those goals.

So I'd end up with:
- Swim 2 sessions, or
- Run 2 extra sessions, or
- Strength train 2 extra sessions, or
- Swim 1 session and Run 1 extra, or
- Swim 1 session and Strength train 1 extra.

I kind of like that better. It means I'll still have to put the TIME and EFFORT in - but not necessarily with swimming.

Besides, running is my weakest sport. I could use some extra time with it. (Um, LOTS of extra time, actually.) LOL

I'm almost at goal for swim, will definitely pass it with my race on Sunday but probably even before that.

Got in a 61 minute run, so that's only 104 minutes left.    I've got a race on Sunday and I'm running Monday.  Hopefully that should be enough to take care of it.

For the rest of my workouts:

Thurs - biking
Fri - biking and OWS
Sat - biking and short run (?)
Sun - tri
Mon - run

I vote option 2 == That's you'd have handled it for others -- you should get the same treatment.  Don't go beating yourself up over it!

*sigh* But I feel like I'm cheating or something.

But ok, I've revised the goal as per option 2. (I just did this 2 minutes ago for someone on another team, too.)

And I will try to reach 110% of the run and strength goals.

Thanks, guys!
