Sorry if this is a bit crude for some....but this area code is near me (Chicago)

(773): I accidentally broke up with him while I was drunk which is really too bad since I'd just gotten a birth control perscription so we could start having sex.
(773): Do you think he'd take me back if I said "dude, we need to get back together or this IUD is going to have an existential crisis for not realizing its full potential"?

Toppage time wastin'....!! Surprised

Ok, now we are a couple posts ahead of them and if I'm going to have enough time to ride, have my snack, pick up and get dinner started I'd better say chio and get my rear in gear.

My kids are 17 and 12. Each had swim lessons when they were little. Neither really likes the water much (especially the elder boy). We did our duty but it comes down to personality in the end.

I had swim lessons when I was very little...then just recently started swimming again...so maybe, sometimes it takes 20+ years ?!!?

Ok guys, another bike question.  I have a MTB bike and am thinking it would be nice to get a road bike, but money is quite tight.  Now, I can get a 74' schwin or a slightly newer fuji both with original parts for free but I'm thinking that the expense in getting them road ready might be too much.    Do parts on bikes "go bad"  I know for sure they need new tires, or should I just stick with my MTB?  As you can probably tell I know nothing about bikes.

I've been swimming since I was in diapers.  Lessons, teams, lakes.  We spend alot of time in the summer at the lake, so lessons I feel are a good idea and my girls LOVE the water.

Didn't make in on the bike yet, started to ride and then thought about some of those suggestions and decided to wait till hubby gets home and maybe help my monkey with my seat and handle bar height.

I hear ya.   I don't know what we would do if our girls didn't like the water, we send alot of our summer (and hopefully more time in the coming years) at the lake.

Bikes that old would be steel and could be heavy. Many of the rubber/plastic parts could need replacing: tires, tubes, brake pads, cable housings, and cables. Also, the bottom bracket, headset, and wheel bearings may need service and repacking.

You can put slick tires on your MTB and it will make the bike more comfortable to ride and help make it go faster, and should cost less than $20 per tire.

eh...donuts are ok, but they aren't my favorite.

I'd rather talk about cupcakes.

Those are the COOLEST cupcakes I've EVER SEEN!  It puts a little tune in my head... Save me, Mario! Save me!

Have you seen the Super Mario wedding cakes?  There are some really impressive ones.

I'm glad my parents made me take swim lessons when I was little.  I always loved the water, though, and was on the swim team in high school.

Bike parts definitely get worn out.  There's a good chance they are just as heavy as your mountain bike.

Have you considered trying slick tires on the bike you have and trying that for awhile?  It would be about $60, so much less than buying a new bike and you'd get a chance to save more for the road bike you really want.

Ughh.  Overslept this morning and missed my masters swim.  Decided to get a short run in after work.  Was a rainy day but seemed to have stopped.  A half mile in the clouds opened up and poured.  I don't mind getting wet but HATE running in sloppy wet sneakers.  Cut it short and back home with a cup of hot tea.
