Good that you know when to recognize the need for new shoes. Now, the trick is to identify the need just a bit earlier... Good luck - do some exercises for those shin splints - lay a towel flat on the floor, and crunch it up just using your toes. Can you tell I've had these before? oh i was well aware of the need i am just real CHEAP...  Thanks... i've used that one before, me walking on my heels for a few minutes really does the trick for me.. Too funny! I do the same thing when my shins bother me. (Altho, it's been a long time since I've had to deal with it.) |

But I don't think I have gained any weight. Hmmmm, just a 'fat' day maybe? Time to clean the house and then bike to the kids school to do a med drop. Let's hope I don't get blown off my bike! |

Last year i was 3rd corral of wave2 and it felt like I was in the lead pack of THE NYC MARATHON!!! This will even be better. I have to run it...I have to run it... We're on a fun-filled trip out west, attending my husband's 30th college reunion (where did all of those years go???). I'm sorry, but no time to read back on what everyone has been doing. I hope we're all on track for our goals and we're having lots of fun! I'm heading out for a high altitude run here in New Mexico in a few minutes, then we're going to take off for Colorado. No running today, just a short ride, but I'm right on schedule with my running plan, so please no cattle prods or tasers  I'm sort of tapering for my duathlon this weekend. It's 5mi./29mi./5mi, but really challenging with a very hilly trail run and a very hilly bike. It's held in the Lake Minnewaska/Mohonk Mountain House area which is one of the most beautiful parts of NY State and the leaves are starting to turn so the scenery will be great. The best part is that a local brew pub provides the post race food, so there are big pots of chili and soup, and a couple of kegs of beer. Keep up the good work, everyone!! Anthony |

Expert 1007 Missouri | Subject: RE: E.V.I.L. Running Reapers - Halloween Run Challenge Morning Reapers! I missed my run last night. When I picked my daughter up from practice she informed me that we HAD to go to Fleet Feet last night to talk to them about her shin splints. So, being the good running mom that I am  , we headed over to see what they had to say. We ended up buying a second compression sleeve (already had one from a problem I was having over the summer) and a new pair of shoes for her. They think she may have been in the wrong type of shoe - stability vs. neutral - so hopefully the new shoes will do the trick. I'll make up the missed run either at lunch (at campus gym) or at the gym tonight before my ST session. We've got strong storms with heavy rain and possible flooding coming through all day so no outside runs today. |
