School is closed today. Sledding at my house this afternoon.

I wanna come play!!

I'll be there after my training today. It will be over about 1.

Ok. I work until noon, so we won't get out much before 1.

I want to go sledding.  Saw my sled in the shed when I was working in the yard this weekend.  It will need some wax for the runners.  Otherwise it is good to go.

Sounds fun!

Robin, your house looks beautiful with  all the decorations.  Did you put them up after your surgery?  OW!

Runner sleds won't work well on this, not a lot of ice. We have these and they are GREAT!

Morning, Dee.

The radio was saying this morning that the next county over there were 65 reported accidents. They lowered the speed limit on the turn pike, and another highway, and were telling people to stay home unless they had to be out. I stayed home! Donnie took the truck and went to work, but it took him twice as long as normal to get there.

They use those on Snow Mountain down here.  They are a lot of fun, but you sure can't steer them.  The runner sleds we used to steer through yard after yard, behind garages, etc.  So much fun as a kid, but the hike back to the top of the hill was always sooooooo long.

Kendra, we have runner sleds. I have 2 from when I was a kid. We only use those in ice, and I'm not sure we've used them since the kiddos were born.

I remember years ago, an ice storm with significant ice, my SIL called the guy who plows the roads and told him to hit our road last. We had most of the family out sledding down the hill from our house down to Donnie's parents on the runner sleds, it's about 2/10 of a mile. Two of the guys got the snowmobiles out and would pull us back up the hill because trying to walk up in the ice was pretty difficult. We were out there past midnight.

Another time, before we were married we had the runner sleds and were going down Donnie's brother's driveway. We'd shoot out the end of the driveway, across the road, into a snow bank. It was fun, there were some turns to maneuver, but man were we stupid. If a car would have been coming down the road we'd have been squished.

Good times.

Yesterday afternoon the kiddos went down to grandma's to play. There was some sledding, some snowball fighting, some snowman making, and just some playing. The kids were playing a game in the barn and Caleb had an accident. Apparently a bale of hay rolled out from under him and he fell 8-10 feet. OUCH!

I spent the rest of the evening watching him for signs of a concussion. His face is cut up a little. He's not sure if he landed on his face, or a hay bale hit him, a couple of them fell on him. His ribs are a little sore. I just spoke with him and he said his neck is a little stiff this morning, and he had a hint of a headache over night, but he feels ok now. He is supposed to have a basketball game today, but I told him if he wasn't feeling well to go to the nurse's office and have her call me. I think he'll be ok, but I don't need him out on the basketball court if his head or neck are bothering him.

Sounds fun... until Caleb "bailed". Sounds like he'll be fine. Always best to keep an eye on it though.

Would have been better if he'd have landed in the hay mound, but he decided to land on the barn floor. Silly boy.

I forgot, there was cookie baking, too!

Dee, do you still have snow? My Portland friends are all a-titter over the snow there.

No, our snow is all gone except maybe up in the hills.  Today it's supposed to get up into low 40s.  But they are saying freezing rain tomorrow evening.  We shall see.

One of the students came and gave me a hug today.  She was so moved by the party and goodie bags.  She made me smile.

And today I spent two hours with the dogs.  The library has a program at the beginning of finals where therapy dogs come in and the students can destress by coming and pet the dogs.  The dogs were so cute.  Bally, Wonka, Echo and Henry.  All Golden Retrievers.  Echo is only 6 months old and was worn out and fell asleep as she was being petted.  The other dogs are pros and stayed awake the whole time.  Not a single student was upset with Echo, they all thought she was adorable and petted her anyway.  It was a warm fuzzy afternoon.

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
