I remember when I first came on her it was like yes I got a star, now how do all theese people get so many. The answer was very clear TAN, Challenges and mentor groups

LOL - how right you are, I'm already back up to three stars

Yanti, I keep waiting for a question you don't know how to answer. One of these days I will stump you!

I love your ideas for appreciating the bike. I'd never thought about breaking up a ride, like I do with swimming, to make it more enjoyable and interesting. I would *love* some pedal stroke drills and information on cadence work -- my bike knowledge is really pathetic.

It does sound like it would absolutely be worth my time to stick the bike on my car and drive somewhere so I can ride and ride without worrying about stoplights and intersections and everything else that stops me. I'm also going to experiment with what you mentioned about packing a lunch and just going and not being afraid of getting lost.

(Berkeley is kind of a blessing and a curse for a bike rider. On the one hand, it's very bike friendly, with lots of paths and bike lanes and cars that are used to sharing the road. But on the other hand, there aren't many places within riding distance where I can just go all out on my bike. But I'm going to stop complaining, because there's a pretty big bike community here and I'm sure I've got it a lot better than most people.)

Oh, and to keep up with the current threads of conversation:

1) I don't know how an index would work, exactly, but I love the idea of it.

2) The green stars are my favorite.

Oh Shawn ... you get it ... we are SO proud.

And I must say, if I had one-tenth the energy you do!

Speaking of pages and chattiness, anyone else feel like we need an index? I seem to be perpetually scrolling back through pages to find something ...

Of course I get it I only have to be hit over the head like 3 or 4 times witht he hammer before I get the idea. That is down from my original 5. Now if I can just figure out why I always have a headache I will be set.

An index would be interesting to see as the topics change on here so much that couldn't follow it. Would be nice it would automatically take all swim posts and put together and run and bike and then jsut kinda have the other 18 Pages for our everyday nonsense that goes on in here.

I like green to but this blue one is going to be here awhile so I better start to like it

I don't know what the stars really mean, is there something I should know?

And I'd love an index.

I am jumping out of my skin with frustration this week due to many factors which all result in me not working out.  It's killing me!!!! More in blog.  Hoping to do a 25 mile ride around Lake Sammamish tomorrow, as rain is finally NOT forecast.  Crossing fingers now.  Gritting my teeth as I stare out my window at the blue sky and sun while kid is napping in the next room. Sigh.  Damn, I need some babysitters.

the stars are representations of how many posts you have each color stands for a different #, they get added and fly away as you reach certain thresholds

here's where it's explained

Sorry to hear you haven't been able to get out to workout - my week started off with a bang and then, I sort of let the job stuff take my head out of the game

Sorry I've been so MIA.  I am furiously trying to finish up my dissertation.  I've been working on it for THREE years (six years of school total), and I *think* I'm finally going to turn it in next week!  So...long story short...you won't be "seeing" much of me for a while.  I'll check in when I can.

 Train on!!!

I did mine in slacking off and being a Smart A$$. Would have finished top in my class if I didn't minor in procrastination. See always putting things off kinda put me behind schedule hahahha.

Actually was so close to finishing my accounting and financial planning when an instructor I had gave us a project to try and "hide" money. He said I did so well that I should rethink my career choice or I would probably end up in jail ahahha. Actually got bored and am now becoming an electrician and love it. Freedom not stuck in an office, still get to use my brain not as much but I do and it has been easy so far.

Heh. That's pretty much how I got my BA (I was so done with school by the time I graduated, so an advanced degree was out of the question).

I'm off for the weekend again, gang. Still no Internet at home for me, so I'll check in with everyone on Monday. I'm excited because I think I found a bike route that will be a lot of fun (and I have a partner to try it with!), and I have a swim lesson on Satuday, and I'm planning a hike with friends on Sunday. Very busy, but it's all good.

Happy training, kids!

Ok I left worked and stopped by the Performance Bike shop. I bought the 1.0 Spinerval DVD and a front tire block. I got home stuck it in the player and did the workout. I probably should have waited a few more days but the wait has been killing me. At least the workout opened my passages and I can take deep breaths. By the way it was a great workout. Now I understand the fuss about spinning classes. Now I don't have to worry about not making it to a class at the gym.

Yay there is color on my chart!

Yup...a PhD in Economics.  Doesn't that sound fun??

I have done a grand total of 10 years of school (4 undergrad, 6 grad).  I also had some working years in between.  I have worked my arse off.  I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOO ready to be done!  I may have to change my screen name to Dr.Ldatug soon.
