Me too. Last week, it looked like the first picture. Not so much anymore . It's cloudy, rainy, and voggy. Still beautiful, but not very conducive to training! wow life's a beach! eh??? love it there! we were in Maui last September...and ready to go back! the DH and I talked about going back...like real soon! love it there! can you say JEALOUS BOYS AND GIRLS!?!?! It kind of is...no complaints from me . Then again, San Francisco is beautiful too! Everyone should come to Hawaii, though. The headline in today's newspaper said something about number of tourists is down by 14%. So, everyone, come to Hawaii!! it probably has to do with the fact that two of the few major airlines that travel to you went under (ATA and ALOHA)...and also gas prices....but, if I will be coming your way probably in the fall or maybe christmas time....hope to see you then. Well, there is that whole airlines out of business thing . When you come this way, make sure to give me a heads up! will do...we usually go to Maui...since we have two friends homes that we usually stay at...but hey, its time to go to another island wouldn't you say!?! |

Oh, wow. That's tough. I mean, Maui in December has all the whales. Also, if you come in the fall, you might be here for the Kona IM (on the Big Island). Oahu does have Waikiki (which is fun for a couple of days...my boyfriend and I are going this weekend for fun). The north shore (the waves are amazing during December), Pearl Harbor, and some great beaches. If you did come to Oahu, I would definitely recommend a vacation rental in Kailua. All that rambling, and all I wanted to say is: Maui is fantastic. It's my favorite, and it is usually a great place to be in December. But, the other islands have their appeals as well. I know they don't cancel for rain, but do they cancel for thunderstorms? The weather is beautiful, if a tad warm, for the half IM that's going on today. --- I have 40 minutes to kill between when they close the transition area and when my wave goes off; when do I want to get into my wetsuit? |

Was going to swim but decided to wait til I got home since I was feeling a bit of a cold being passed from my DH who has had it since I left for Arizona...and since I am feeling a bit in my throat decided to not swim because I did not want to go out on the bike with wet hair and tri suit....instead I rode the course (a little under 15 miles, then ran the 3 mile run...and we decided to go out for a 30 mile loop...was an easy flat loop with small rolly polly hills...but we did have a good head wind for the ride home with one tiny up!...drove home and swam 750 m...so got in lots of mileage/meters for the team....total of just under 50 miles on the bike, 3 mile run, and 750m swim! now I am going to take a realllllllllllllllllly long nap.... have a great day guys....hope you are getting caught up if you are in the lower brackets....will be posting another one on Monday of this week....so get busy so that you can make it the top of the list! GO LIVELY LAVA TEAM!!!! |

I'm working on gettoing a trainer so I can get some time in the saddle. Between hubby's travel, my work schedule, the kid's activities, and the weather, I have yet to put in a single minute on the bike this month. We shall see what is available in my price range in the classified ads, and I'll chime in when the time starts adding up. Until then KIU everyone!! We are HOTTT! It's been a busy week for me - not much time for posting or leaving much info in my blog this week. I got my workouts in this week for the most part, though. It was a cut-back week for me, so my volume was down compared to other weeks. Back to work, this week, though!! I'm 6 weeks out from my first HIM! Eeek!! I have my first tri of the season next weekend. Man, the water is gonna be COLD (probably low to mid 50's - brrrr.....) at least the swim will be short. I'll get some bike time in today, and might add a short run on the end since I haven't done any bricks this week. Keep up the good work, team!! |

Do you have access to a gym and a stationary bike? that would count as well if you can't get a bike or a trainer figured out

Pro 4343 Olney, MD | Subject: RE: Team Lively Lava Well, I finished my triathlon. The weather was aweful...cool and pouring rain almost the entire time. I completely tanked the swim...felt like I couldn't breathe and like I'd forgotten how to swim. I'm assuming it was from needing to put my face in the cold (65F) water. I rocked the ride and I think I did well on the run. I don't really know any of my times due to Garmin user error I had "Hill Slug" written on my left calf. One woman got up pretty close to me on the ride and said "You're no Hill Slug. You're rockin these hills!" I thanked her and then dropped her Funniest thing I heard...on the run "I think I'm getting swimmer's ear." |

I'm going to count it at least for mileage - not sure if it should count for the challenge - team, can you weigh in on this?
