Went for a long run this morning and tried to go at a bit of a slower pace, but it seems going at a slower pace makes my calves tighten up. Speeding up seems to be the only way to make them loosen up again. Is this just me being odd or is it a common thing? |

I don't know if your calves are tight b/c you're running slower but I do know that you need to change that avatar pic to one of you on your new bike! |

Member 76 , | Subject: RE: BamaDC's Mentor Group v4.0 - Closed May is in the books. My swim total is really low because the pool was closed for almost two weeks at the beginning of the month. : ( But on a more positive note, I had my first medium distance ride (30 mi) averaging over 19 MPH.

Higher totals than April, but still missed too many workouts for my liking. Thought I was finally going to break the 16mph average on cycling this month but my last 2 rides brought it down to 15.98! Oh well, bike fitting on the 8th so hopefully that will boost my speed a bit. |

Worse month in a while. I need to get my logs update to get the total but May wasn't a great month for me either. At least you have an excuse... |

I did a 42:07 10K yesterday. It was :33 seconds slower than last year, but I placed 3 spots higher in my AG and 13 spots higher overall. 11/106 AG and 73/1879 Overall. Overall I'm pleased with the results, mainly because it was stupid hot yesterday. Next up Buster Britton Tri. Edited by BamaDC 2011-05-31 1:02 PM |

And about Buster - don't hang out with small kids and get to puking the night before like last year! May:
Meh - lost pretty much a whole week to injury. Only good news was the tri ride tonight was so hard that Golden Cheetah claims my critical power has gone up 11w. And it was stupid hot this afternoon. ;-) |

Pretty solid month for me. Wish I could up the numbers some, and will have to over the next 3 months leading into the HIM. I'm pretty happy with my bike progression. I feel like I'm not getting in the running I need, and I'm about to start getting in more swimming. If I can get a good swim and bike in Augusta, I might have a chance at a sub 6 HIM, which would be huge for me. |

I'm sure I would have been dropped easily. I'm glad I had someone to pull me back up Old Leeds. Good thing is, that my Golden Cheetah power claims to have gone up about the same as yours, at around 14w. Must be something in the programming..... |

When we hit the stop sign at Ruffner they sprinted off. We formed a small chase group, but I blew them up and they couldn't follow after a mile or so. I tried to catch up solo, but there was no way I was going to catch a group of four by myself like that. Averaged 25.2mph on Ruffner yesterday. Caught them on the climb up John Rogers and then let them go again. Lost them for good on Old Leeds when I had computer issues and stopped. Was toast anyway. Good news: I found out I can hold 300w for 10 minutes. Bad news: Holy hell that hurt. |

And, I'm not catching anyone on a climb.....that's my weak link, but I think it's gotten a bit better. You were throwing up some serious power yesterday then.... |

Veteran 267 | Subject: RE: BamaDC's Mentor Group v4.0 - Closed I've got an oly on Saturday. Been semi-tapering for it this week without deviating too far off the HIM plan. I'll still get in the long ride on Sunday (3 hrs) but I'll miss the long run (2 hrs). Volume wise I'll end up a little short for the week but I figure the race effort on Saturday will come close to making up for it. I didn't do this race last year b/c I had just started racing and wasn't prepared. Can't wait to get out there and race but it has been HOT. My car said 96 at lunch today and I saw a bank sign that read 102. Is it January yet? |

Heck, I couldn't do anything for close to a week. I did get in a few bikes, swim and 1 run. Luckily, it was the recovery week basically for my HIM plan post OLY. It's way to hot for summer not to be here yet. If june is this hot, I hate to see what late July and August will be like. |

The in-laws will be in town this weekend, too. Not sure what the plans are but I doubt they will include a nap and some good couch sitting/TV time after the race. Depending on what we do that day, Sunday's ride could be interesting. |
