Recovery week for me after 3 solid weeks prior - last night I did an easy 1:15 bike and 20 minute run and it felt amazing!  Can't ever under estimate the value of RECOVERY!!!!!!

Posted that, went to sleep. Just woke up. Gotta take the kid to the doctor. The one that infected me. He's fine now, just needs a sports physical.

What's really funny is there is this window of about 15 minutes after I wake up that I think maybe I feel good enough to get on the trainer. Then I'm toast.

Don't sweat it.  Listen to your body.  NOTHING you do (or don't do) during the week of Feb. 18th is going to make or break your race.  Get healthy and then get after it.Smile

Ha! IMLP will be like a rest day for me. I'm punishing myself now so I'm used to it so when LP comes around I'm good to go.

Thankfully my recovery week starts monday....two more days of punishment on this last build before some much needed short workouts.

Trainer Road is awesome.  So far I've done these rides:

Fight Club, Thunderbolt, Perkins, Citadel, 20 Minute Test.

Agreed, love Trainer Road.  Try Cartago if you want/are willing to do a three hour ride.  Has anyone tried to simulate a LP loop in some way?

Thanks man, going to give it a shot in the morning. I felt good today but coach reminded me of the 24 hours fever free rule. It's funny how much missing 4 days can stress you out.

Those in New England/Northeast, whos ready for the snow?!?! Was supposed to do the Hyannis Half marathon Sunday but that may be canceled. considering doing my long run tomorrow before it gets gross out and doing an indoor trainer ride on Sunday and completely dismissing the race....anyones thoughts?

Good luck this weekend to those braving the elements

No! I'm so sick of snow. I was meant to do the Hampton Half on Sunday and they've already cancelled. Bummer.

Yeah, I'm outside Boston, too.  Weekends have really sucked for a while... either snowing or too much snow laying around to run.  I would focus on the alternative plans; even if not cancelled, it would be an potentially dangerous drive to an unpleasant run, in my opinion.  It may just be me, but I would focus on the quality aspect of the training.

It is funny because I got most of my long rides outside in January, but have not been outside since between the cold and snow on the ground, aside for a couple long runs.  At least the daylight is getting longer!  Good luck!

Swim: 1:45

Bike: 4:00

Run: 3:15

Strength: 2.75

Total: 11.75

Only 2 more weeks left in the Base phase of the Fink plan!  I feel like these first 8 weeks really flew by, but I'm enjoying every day of it.  I feel like I've made huge gains in just these 8 short weeks, so I can't wait to see how we are all doing come July.

4th week done for me...a recovery week with TWO days off and not a lot of running and just under 8 hours of S/B/R.

S: 1:40

B: 4:10

R: 2:00

Strength: 1:10

Feeling VERY good.  New diet has helped A LOT...lots of greens, fruits, whole foods, very little processed/sugar foods, and .  Recovery from day to day has been solid.  Looking forward to the next grind of 3 weeks.  21 days until my next rest day...Surprised

Happy training, IMLP peeps!  22 weeks to go!

22 weks to go?!?! Gaaghhgh!!!!!!

I was supposed to start my LT block this past week, but I finally got whacked with one of those bugs going around, so it actually turned into a "listen-to-your-body-and-don't-make-yourself-horribly-ill-like-you-did-this-time-last-year" kind of week:

Swim:
4000.00 Yd
1h 20m
Bike:
43.00 Mi
2h 32m 51s
Run:
22.10 Mi
4h 17m 56s
Strength and Flexibility:
1h 45m

Week Total: 9:55:00.

I did manage to stay well enough to race an extremely fun, albeit cold, wet and muddy HM on Saturday - race report here for anyone interested:

LT block starts THIS COMING WEEK (hopefully). Safe and happy training, everyone!

It sounds like a solid week of training for some, and a week of trying to get healthy for others.  Hopefully the bugs will become fewer very soon!

Brian, are you back at it yet?

I had a big bike week.  I was looking forward to a recovery week this week, but apparently I'm doing 4 build weeks this cycle and it's not coming until next week.  Boo!

Swim - 3h

Bike - 7h10m

Run - 2h35m

Had a good HM (new PR) at a local event with some very steep hills - my recovery isn't as fast as it used to be, I must be getting old...  Anyway, my recovery week is done
S:
3700.00 Yd - 1h 19m 18s
B:
88.40 Mi - 5h 19m 44s
R:
21.11 Mi - 2h 39m 32s
Str:
30m

Now it's 3 weeks of serious training again - really hoping the weather breaks and the 3.5 hr trainer ride becomes an outside ride - I think I've seen everything I care to watch on Netflix.

Week 8 Total - Swim 1 hr / Bike / 3.75 hr / Run 3.15 hr.  Missed yet another swim workout.

The base phase is flying by.  This is my second fink and I feel less fit than last time on week 8.  Still a long way to go so no need to panic.  Once the training switches outdoor I'll probably lose the 5 lbs I've been carrying all winter.

Hey All, I guess I should start posting a bit. Really just stopping in to check Rusty's smack talk. . I am doing the James plan this year. It's comprised of many swim sets, lots of hills on the bike and a lot of base running. It will be interesting to see how it all comes together on July 28th. Someone said 22 week to go? Hmmm!
