Yeah, the topic seems to be a little petty.

Arguing on the internet is like campaigning -- you never have to show facts, you just say what you want regardless of truth and if enough people agree with you, you win.

We just signed up for satellite Internet and TV at our lake place.  I am ambivalent.  I have missed things I would have watched if we had TV but I have always sort of liked the enforced disconnection from world that the lake house gave me. We are getting it for the friends that our kids invite to come in for weekend visits.  They suffer withdrawal, particularly Internet withdrawal, when they visit.  They drive 10 miles each way to the public library to check their email and whatever.  J wants them to continue coming back so we have to have all the comforts of home.  We are getting it for them but it will be there all the time.  I know I could just not turn it on but that probably won't happen.  I am pretty weak about resisting the temptation.  Oh well, turn the page.  I am showing my age bias.

Do ever want to get away from TV and Internet? Or is it just a geezer thing?

Nope. If anything, consider it disaster averted.

Hm. I used to work as a psychic; does that count as a sixth sense?

Not to pick a fight but how often do you go there?  How much are your kids friends going to cost you?  Your at "the lake"  Declare a no Tech zone. Play a game, read a book, If they want to go check thier email, they can walk or ride a bike.

Thank you.  I pray for you pretty often too.

I have always thought that psychics were people who just knew how things work so they could see the future because of deeper understanding.

I tend to agree. Their withdrawal is not your problem. It's very nice of your family to want to accommodate guests but at what cost?
