Keri is more like me than Caleb. He is usually pretty cautious. I did learn yesterday that after he fell he jumped on the 4-wheeler to come home and tell me what happened. I didn't want to tell grandma, she would have yelled at him. He knew telling me would be better because the first thing I said to him was "are you ok?" His neck was a little stiff yesterday, other than that he said he was fine. He's lucky. It could have been MUCH worse! |

I wouldn't mind decorating if it were a "family affair." Putting it up by myself and taking it down by myself ... not so much. DH enjoys looking at some decorations, but not enough to help .....so..... |

I mentioned that it was too much effort and I was just going to put up "my tree" one year. BOOM! help came. It is a giant PITA but I get more happiness than not from it. Kendra, I did it post surgery. Jim brought all the stuff down (and boxes back up). Did most of the outside stuff and I did the inside stuff little by little. I noticed that an ornament that we bought in Key West last year was actually with the ornaments for our upstairs tree. That means we didn't take that down until we got back from Key West..... LATE January!!! |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning Ghoulies! I took today off. Keri still has this dang cold and was up most of the night coughing, I spent the night in her room with her, but got very little sleep. I'm not sure if she's going to school yet today or not, and if she is I'll be driving her in. If she stays home she'll be going grocery shopping with me. 6-8" of snow in the forecast for tomorrow, so I want to get it done today. |

MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning Ghoulies! Ann - sorry to hear that Keri still has that cold. Be sure to get good cough syrup on your grocery run, but then again, you are a good mom so I know you are already on top of it. Robin - glad to hear you had help with the decorating. With what you do in and around your house, that is a full time job. We got what decorating we are going to do done last night. I am not putting wreaths on all the windows this year, but we do still have some white light Christmas trees ion the yard and our green laser on the house. Inside 1.5 trees, swap of pillows on the couches and chairs, and then a few things on the mantle and bookshelves. I have not put up the Christmas village in quite a few years and I'm thinking maybe it is time to start selling some of those things off. Will decide next year I guess. No point in selling after xmas, should look at selling in November when people are beginning to look for these things. But I haven't talked it out with Frank and the kids yet either. They might want to have a say as to the fate of the village. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Happy FFFFriday the 13th Ghoulies. Kendra, good job on the decorating. It is funny to hear you describe it as "light" with all you do. But then, I can't throw stones. Ann, hope the snow is fun, fun, fun. Just stay safe. Hope Keri feels better so she can play in it too. Dee, How are you ? I have the day off. A drs appointment then I am going to nap then wrap presents. We have some friends who are staying in the cottages from Fla. We will have a fire in the back yard this evening. It will be funny to watch them freeze. I won't be too far behind them. Nap time. You all have GREAT weekends. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning Ghoulies! Another busy weekend, I know, it's hard to believe. Thursday night, up with Keri coughing so she and I took Friday off. We did go out and do our grocery shopping since they were calling for snow on Saturday. She wanted to go to basketball practice on Friday night but I wouldn't let her. Saturday morning I got up and headed out early, before the snow started, to try and finish up my Christmas shopping. I need gift cards for a BIL, and a niece, and I'm done. Got home and put some laundry away. All basketball activities were cancelled for the day, so since I had everyone home we took on the task of sorting out my socks. I had 2 laundry baskets overflowing with socks. On Saturday evening we were slated to help out some friends of the family with their annual live nativity scene hayride. They put on a nice size production, usually have Roman soldiers on horseback at the beginning, where you register, and start the hay ride. Then you make several stops along the way, seeing Mary and Joseph a few times, you also stop and talk to some shepherds along the way, there are singing angels, and the 3 wise men. Donnie was an angel, Keri was a Shepherd, and Caleb and I had the duty of getting all of the fires started and keeping them burning at the different stops. At the end you stop and get off the wagon, and go into the barn to see Mary, Joseph, and the baby in the manger. After that there are cookies and hot cocoa. All except for 1 stop had a roofed shelter, which was good, they did have some protection, just not a roof. Caleb and I had a 4-wheeler, a cart full of wood, and my backpack full of fire starting supplies. Caleb did a great job of driving the 4-wheeler in the snow. There was 1 section that was slightly up hill, and between fence posts. You really had to give it the gas to get up the hill, but in doing so you slipped and slided all over the place. He did a very good job of keeping us going straight. He carried LOTS of firewood for me, was very friendly to all of the actors as we circled around all evening making sure the fires were still burning. The hayride usually goes from 5-8, we ended it at 7 this year because the weather was so bad. Caleb and I had been out in the snow and sleet since before 4 working on the fires. Our hats were covered in ice, and my hands were cold, but it wasn't too bad. I did slip and fall, and have a huge bruise on the side of my thigh, and my treadmill run yesterday was a no-go, it just hurt too much. I didn't get to see Keri or Donnie saying any of their lines, as there were only 4 wagons that went through all night. None of them were full, and 3 of them were occupied by neighbors who could walk their. Just wasn't a good night for it. Yesterday Keri had a basketball game. Her team got crushed, but I think they were already defeated because they knew the team they were playing had won big their first 2 games. None of the girls hustled, they couldn't hit a shot to save their lives, they just looked flat. Keri seemed intimidated, and had no confidence in her ability to dribble the ball. It was hard to watch. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Oh, and last night after basketball was the annual Christmas Caroling. We didn't take the horses this year because of the ice and snow, and it was so cold and windy, we ended up driving from house to house. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good Morning Ghoulies. Had a nice relaxing weekend. Went to the Christmas program at church, beautiful music... especially the violinist. Larry has gotten 4 orders for his wooden mirror & coat rack, 1 child's rocker, and a sweater bench. He is excited. Thankfully only the wall racks are for Christmas and he has those done already. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ann, the live nativity sounds like quite the production. I bet it would be really fun in a little better weather. Ouch for the bruising. Don't forget to put arnica on it several times a day. It will heal up a lot faster. |

Oh, also, what is your criteria for sorting socks? What are you doing with them? The first house we stopped at we knocked several times, there were several cars in the driveway, a bunch of loud kids, and they never heard us. After that I think there were 8 stops. With the socks, they needed paired up. They were just loose socks in the basket. Although I let Keri buy socks this fall that while the colors go together, they aren't pairs. That's the "in thing" right now. So.... we were trying to remember which socks went with that group, too. Most of the socks will get put into my empty sock drawers, but I am getting rid of some. I have HUNDREDS of pairs of socks. I think I can afford to thin the herd a little. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Keri's chorus concert is tonight. I just found out about 5 minutes ago that Caleb now has a basketball game, and I need to take his uniform into school for him. Could someone come over, watch the game, then take him home so I can go to Keri's concert? Right now my plan is: go home and get his uniform, run it into school, come home and nap, then when Keri gets home get her fed, showered, and dressed for the concert, we both go to school and see the start of the game. I'll then run her up to the HS, she has to be there early, and I'll go back down to watch the game. After the game I'll go back up to the HS and enjoy the concert. The good part is our ES, MS, and HS are all on the same campus, so there isn't a whole lot of running around to do. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Lots of post today, there's just a lot going on in my world. Friday afternoon I had Wynn and Milo at the vet's. I don't know why, the vet has never said anything, but they have never been on heart worm medicine. I took them in to have blood drawn, to check for heart worms, so I could get them started on something. Both dogs came back negative for heart worms, but I found out that Wynn has Lyme Disease. I'm guessing she has had it for awhile. I asked if that could explain why she limps so much, and can barely move some days, and the vet said ABSOLUTELY! So she is on an antibiotic right now for the next month, and I also got her a prescription strength pain killer. We go back in a month and they will do more blood work, and a urinalysis, to see how she is. Poor girl. Also, after a month of switching to weight control kibble for both dogs, measuring out what they eat, and no longer giving them table scraps they both gained 2 pounds. |

MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ann - wow, you sure did have a busy weekend and a busy week ahead of you. Keeping my fingers crossed that nothing breaks and you can enjoy all the kids events. I'm sorry for the pups, but glad to know that it's not just women you watch what they eat and still gain weight. Of course with Wynn, once she begins to feel better and get more active again the weigh might come off. Milo, don't know what the big boys story is. Is he sneaking food some where? When my son lived here, so did his cat and that cat was nick named Porty (short for Portland) but it also fit because she was one plump little kitty. She would sneak into my neighbors house and eat their cat food, so even though I kept it under tight control here, and the other cats were fine, she was one plump little kitty. |
