Either of you got links please to pics/videos etc so i know what to do? I tried russian twists but they felt a bit weird. i am currently doing normal crunches but with a twist at the end: brutal!

Side planks:

Side jackknife (I do these with a bent knee and bring it to the elbow):

Combo plank/jackknife (these are freakin' hard!):

Sappho—google Russian twist. The first video that returns is pretty good (sorry, no idea how to put in a decent link from my phone).

Hour run for me today. It felt so super uncoordinated this morning, it never really fell into a great rhythm. In the end though, third fastest 5k this year, so I’ll take that!

Tore up the floor in my entry way yesterday (it was raining, so no patio) and found some beautiful hard wood the previous owners covered with laminate. *sigh* now I have to decide what to do with it—restore or replace? I’ve already decided this quarantine needs to last another couple of months for me to finish all the projects I’ve already started! I don’t need another one, house!!

Oh my gosh, Gretchen I love the projects!

My roommate and I are doing a core challenge. We did two videos today instead of just one. I also had PT today. They cleared me to just do exercises on my own even though I have not been doing them much haha. So I need to be better about it!

Nicole—I definitely run at different paces depending on what I’m listening to. Audiobooks for long runs. Fun playlist for short runs where I want to hit mid to high Z2 and I have a really great playlist my wife made for a party a few years ago that I use for any hard runs, like a threshold test.

Today’s run was brought to you by the letter D for disaster. Oh well, live to fight another day.

But you ran!!! Well done!

I did five miles on the bike today, and then some corework and rehab. Tried a side plank - argh! Finally settled on ankle taps - perfect combo of working the obliques but not killing me: yay!

Tonight after work, I managed to get in a 30 minute ride.... I'm really struggling with motivation...and eating well.

Next week, it's gonna rain a lot but I'm gonna ride on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Onward...

Nice job, DQ.  Keep at it.

We had an awesome weekend here.  Saturday I got in about five miles of hiking around, did the lawn, and then hammered my abs for a half hour.  Yesterday morning I braved the drizzle and rode 25 miles and got an all-time PR for 1' power, and also found out my local Strava nemesis took back my KOM.  Flatted again, but although it took me twenty minutes to change it as I really had to wrestle with getting the tire on and off the rim, successful and didn't need professional help.  Then the sun broke out and it was 80 degrees later in the day (it was 58 when I rode).  I swear every single person in our neighborhood was out walking/biking.  Cooler this week so back indoors...75' Z2 and more strength/core work today before a day off tomorrow.

Hope everyone is hanging in there.  Maryland is still on full lockdown (big hot spot in the DC areas right now).

Did some yoga Friday, gardening Saturday, a gorgeous hike on Sunday, and trained with our trainer this morning. Also went on a walk at lunch. And we are still doing our Core challenge. Should finish tomorrow, but then we are going to start up again and do each video 2x through.

We are also trying to learn how to do a handstand. We have lots of goals

Hey everybody! Welcome back Chris!

Moving (like moving all your stuff from one house to another) should be an Olympic event. Spent the last two weekends moving. Plus the work from home/home school the kids stuff, it's been a tiring couple of weeks. I've managed to do pretty good with my training even though lack of a race on the horizon has me somewhat unmotivated.

Did a beautiful, 12 mi long, sunrise run with my wife yesterday. It was one of those runs that reminded me why I enjoy running.

I've been working out a new bike route, I've got a 45 mi option and a 35 mi option. I now need to avoid the multi use trails as they're packed by 8:30 am. Last time I rode on the trail some guy decided it would be a good idea to do crunches. In the middle of the trail. Lying strait across the trail! So now I'm trying to find roads to ride. Anyway, here's a pic from my ride Sat. I've been really enjoying the new scenery.

Swimming has been nonexistent.

Hour trainer ride (2x15’@95%FTP) and then 30’ brick run. It is cold and cloudy and gross here. I think I’m going to take the day off from patio work.

I woke up before my alarm this morning feeling rested and had just the best/most productive few hours. Got in a 30 minute run, did my PT exercises, day 7 of our core challenge, some handstand practice, cleaned the bathroom, vacuumed the first floor and stairs, baked a loaf of homemade sourdough bread and cleaned the kitchen up a bit. Felt great!

Getting takeout from a place called El Bufalo tonight. Tacos and margs. Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

How was the cervezas (spelling)?

You were so productive this morning. How did the bread come out?

Evening all: Sitting out on the porch after dinner listening to James Talor while drinking a Ballvenie scotch. Life is good.

Today I went out for a ride on an absolutely beautiful day. I got 11 slow miles in and I have some good news to share. Today is my third ride in a row - I haven't ridden 3 times without missing a workout in more than 2 years. So, while the progress is slow, I'm still making progress in the great scheme of things.

I'm giving some thought to doing a century ride this summer as a goal for myself(since all the races have been cancelled (or will be )) but I can't find a good training plan. I want something that's got a slow build up because I'm in such crappy shape now. Anyone have any suggestions?

That's awesome Dave! Keep it up and it'll become a habit. Then the days you don't get to ride you'll be missing it. =)

Good question. I know running the recommendation is not more than 10% increase in volume per week, long run shouldn't be more than I think 30% of weekly volume. I think I've heard the 10% rule given for cycling too, but I'm not sure.

I'd pick a date in August or September (maybe October if you don't think it will be too cold) and set a date to complete your century. Work back from there and see what its like. I'd probably want my long ride to be at 80-90 miles at least two weeks out from the ride, back off to maybe 40-50 the week before your ride. And have a fairly easy week leading up. If you can get to 80-90 miles 3-4 weeks out, that's even better it'll give you a little buffer incase life gets in the way.

Picking a date also sets a goal instead of just saying "some day".

Super ugly 90’ run today. I just couldn’t seem to get into the rhythm of running. It felt like the two halves of my body were operating independently of each other and both were trying to make accommodations for the other half being missing. If it sounds weird, it is because it was.

Still cold, cloudy, and gross, but imma gonna work on the patio anyway.

That sounds amazing! And great job on the 3 rides in a row! Remember that feeling of accomplishment you have. That will help motivate you to keep it up!!!

You spelled it right and unfortunately we could not get through! I'm sure everyone had the same idea. We ended up making our own tacos (luckily I had everything we needed) and just having a few beers. I had some Guinness Blondes.

The bread turned out great! Definitely sour I might make a grilled cheese or something like that for lunch today.

VO2 max bike workout today (22 30” intervals at 125%FTP), followed by a 30’ brick run. Bike was awesome. Run was half awesome—after my legs started working properly again.

Rest of the day—moving gravel.
