ShawnC13 - 2008-06-02 9:03 PM Hey everyone I am still around just lacking in training except for the biking lately. Hope to turn it up this week and have been looking in and reading once and awhile when I get a chance!! You and I are in the same boat, apparently. Well, I'm stepping it up also. I'm not sure if there's a June Manatee challenge, but I have some training goals in the works - check mylog for details (I feel like a commercial). FWIW, I did pretty well on my May Manatee Challenge. I only missed one night of going to bed on time. That puts me at 90%, but for our rules, I'm in the 2/3 category. I hope all is doing well. I plan on catching up over the next few days. Erin - great job on the half! I'm still contemplating signing up for one next spring. |

It's been pretty quiet in here lately--I assume everyone's working to make the dough to tri, living life, and maybe even squeezing some training in. As the thick of the racing season sets in, remember to pause and take a breath once in a while. Be good to yourself. So what if you slack once in a while on training? It's tough enough to miss the training; no need to add the injury of blaming yourself or anything else for it. It just is. Don't double up on following workouts; don't push harder. Just ease back into the groove. I've accepted that I'm probably not going to be breaking the finish line ribbon on my events, so I'm just going to let go and have fun!!! |

Expert 709 | Subject: RE: Beth and Yanti's Manatees Mentor Group--FULL! Greetings to everyone. Sorry I've been quiet lately, I've been getting my a$$ handed to me at work. I think I made it through the rough stretch and hope to get back to normal, whatever that is. Positive Thought of the Day: May was my largest training month since last October, when I did the HIM. I'm still feeling good, so I'm thinking I'm finally healed up from the car accident. It's nice to look at my graphs and see some different colors and bars that are higher than zero. I hope everyone is well! |

TinkerBeth 23096 Liverpool, New York | Subject: RE: Beth and Yanti's Manatees Mentor Group--FULL! I can't think of a more appropriate place to share this - (from my log today) Holy freakn' buckets - did you see that run!? Yes folks I did it - I ran six miles!!!! Not one singe walk break - even cooler is that I felt really good the whole entire way Distance is estimated based time it took me for the last 1.5 miles (I was able to clock that with my odometer - the rest of the run was through a park and residential area of town). I'd be willing to bet money that I didn't go at a faster pace the last 20 min- lol. I just felt steady the whole way. I got out of work later than I had hoped to - which meant a later start to my workouts than planned, which meant, no way that I was going to get both a run and a swim in tonight. I seriously need to get my azz out of bed in the morning when I have two workouts in one day and it's not a brick. Anyway, since I had to choose, I chose the run, cuz it's my weakness - it was pretty cool - it was pouring right before I left the building - I'm thinking great, now I'm going to have to do the dreadmill again. Just as I walked out the doors, the rain came almost to a stop - I thought, what the heck, it's not like I'm going to melt if I get wet. So I took off - it was just a light summer/spring rain - I enjoyed feeling the rain on my face, and the quiet of the evening - I finished up, stretched - got in my car, and the deluge began - It was POURING, I could hardly even see the road driving back to the apartment. Wow, did I luck out! thanks for all of your encouragement and help!

And Yanti - good job on going to bed early. I'm assuming from the context clues that this is not something you do regularly? |

Master 2235 Pacific Northwest | Subject: RE: Beth and Yanti's Manatees Mentor Group--FULL! Helloooooooo quiet group! I am only going to be online until 12 noon PST today.....so if you have something to say, you'd better say it soon! At noon I head over to pick up Lynne and head to central Washington for our first Olympic tri! I wrote a book in my logs yesterday, just about, regarding my stress and my terrible day and blah blah blah....luckily I am feeling more positive today and really looking forward to the race. The forecast is overcast and in the 50s during the race....no rain though, as it's in the desert part of the state. I would rather it be cool than in the 100s, which it generally is at this time of year! Here in the Seattle area it is once again in the 40s and DUMPING rain. Southern CA seems more and more like where I want to live! Or Austin. But I digress. I need to go finish packing my stuff and make sure my kids aren't destroying the house.....I am a bit distracted. I hope everyone has a great, fabulous weekend, no matter what you are up to!!! |

Master 1292 Houston | Subject: RE: Beth and Yanti's Manatees Mentor Group--FULL! Good luck to all of you racing this weekend and have a fun time!!! I am chilling with hubby after watching a great round of tennis in the French open, Nadal is fabulous! This weekend will be fishing on Saturday with blues and dancing that night, running with my buddies (we are starting our training for the Houston 1/2) then off to an OWS session with a fellow BTer on Sunday. Busy but fun times. I am happy to be getting back into some training and looking forward to the runs with my girls since I don't see them as much anymore. I missed the 1/2 marathon in January due to an achilles injury so I am looking forward to doing this training slow and easy this time so I can make it to the line this time and they don't have to run without me!! Take care everyone!

Synopsis--totally fun, really challenging, can't wait to do it again! I did it in 2:53--was hoping for 3:15, so I am feeling pretty good about myself. Had a great time with my tri friends, as well. More on that tomorrow, I need sleep since I was not able to get a single moment of it last night, as I was a ball of nerves. |
