I'm off to go meet with the kids' principal. At least it's not for anything bad this time. I'll check back with you all later. GO GHOULIES!!!

my husband is the first to throw things out now! I love it! every so often he will make a dump run...these are becoming further and further apart as we are finally getting down to the basics! and ahhhhhhhhhhhh it feels great! I truly do not find myself cleaning much and it always looks soo sparkly clean! lovin it!

I dream of that day!! Hubby is great at throwing away others stuff! If it belongs to the kids or me it has no value but he can have 10 different screwdrivers and he needs them alllllll! Other then that he is great!

Your husband and my husband must have learned that at the same place!!!

my husband was there too! seriously...he had some issues of packratting! but just like kids...well actually much harder to teach then kids...but they do learn! and if they dont..take a frying pan to the head and try, try again!

heading to get frying pan.........

My sister calls and really just likes to listen to herself talk.  I can't get a word in edgewise - that is why I like e-mail - it can be all about me instead of her

Your sister sounds exactly like mine.  I never thought I could have an hour long phone conversation using just the words "yeah"  and "uh-huh"

Um, which one of you is my brother? hehehe. I am have, in the past, been sooo like that.

kcarroll - 2009-10-21 8:53 AM Dang it.  Still have a couple pages to catch up on but I've got to go to meeting.  Even worse, I scheduled and am running it.

Catch up with everyone tonight after work.

That is just wrong on all levels - and you consider yourself a Ghoulie

BTW - My disdain for meetings is compared for my disdain for the Oakland Raiders (I grew in Denver to give you some idea of the severity of this mentioned disdain )

IMHO - Meetings are liked by people like my sister (who like to listen to themselves talk)  Our boss is prime example for this.  He can turn a 30 second conversation into a 20 minute dissertation - sorry bud you lost me after about 33 seconds in case you are interested

On second, thought Bill, I know I could never be your sister. I like to listen to others as much as I like to talk, and I don't like to hear myself. Blech.

Crap! 13 y.o daughter "needs" my computer. Some weird thing she calls "homework". What is this strange thing, I ask?

Be back later.

what homework...they still do that????

Did teenagers ever do homework? At 7:30 pm tonight, as she started on the poster presentation she has to turn in tomorrow, I reminded her that there is such a thing as the "I hope you have one just like you" curse. And she's Exhibit A!

I love playing that game! Last year my son (then in 5th grade) put me through the wringer trying to get him to finish his report/poster for the state of Iowa. Definitely payback for youthful procrastination on my part! This year has been much better though.

I got worse as I got older. It didn't really show on my report cards until my Senior year. I fear that this is just the beginning.

at least you went....my parents used to say...we would drop you off at school...you would go in one door and out the other....

and I used to ask...were you over there at the other door I was heading out or something??? how did you know?

parents answer: school would call...is Julie sick? shes not at school!

DARN SCHOOL RATTTING ON ME!!!

can I help it that I liked the beach better then my senior year at school!!!!

PLUS ~~~~ life is a beach is it not!!!???

not sure why my parents grounded me for so long...guess they didnt get that memo!

LOL. Yep, we could totally hang out and head bang to some Bon Jovi. But not for very long. I get dizzy you know. It's like I'm getting *shock* OLDER or something! *gasp*!

I recommend slacking off whenever possible.

Except when it comes to running.  No running slackers!!!!!

Sounds good to me. Can I get that on letterhead and sent to my boss? I'll pay postage...

Sure...

Dear Tom's boss,

All this work stuff  is adding to Tom's stress and cutting into valuable training time.  He should be given the opportunity to work half days whenever possible.  (At full pay, of course.)

I understand that Tom's reduced hours may put some additional burden on you.  You should try yoga.  It really helps you relax.

Sincerely,
Your friendly neighborhood slacking off expert

Um, if you could just remove the word Tom and replace it with Ann that would be great. Not only would I pay postage, I'd send cookies as well.

aspeelma - 2009-10-20 5:50 PM **** Consumer Product Alert Ghoulies ****I wear orthotics so before I run I have to lube up my feet before I run or else I get blisters on the bottoms of my feet. I typically use Body Glide which works pretty well. I was out of BG so I decided I'd try some Band-Aid Friction Block that I had in my camelbak for hiking. It did not work well at all. I have a blister on the arch and the top of my right foot and on the ball of my left foot. I will be stopping tomorrow to pick up some more BG before I go out running. The Band-Aid brand stuff didn't go on nearly as well as the BG and I even questioned it in my mind before I went running.Take care of those feet Ghoulies!!!

Do you wear socks also? I have orthotics and have never lubed my feet but I have been experiencing blisters/rubbing more latley...thought I needed new orthotics...which I am sure I do just am not ready to drop another $300 on them!!

Yes, I'm a sock wearer. I wasn't until I got the orthotics. Bamboo socks seem to work the best for me, but that wasn't what I had on last night.
I had gotten my first ones at the price of $375, they were to last me 10 years. I wore them out in a year. I didn't feel like dropping that kind of money again so I was just going with the $50 Dr. Scholl's ones. I started having more and more back problems, and piriformis issues and my PT got me custom fitted for new ones. They were only $135, they are the full length, which I like, the other ones weren't and they are guaranteed for 5 years. So if I wear them out I get a new pair. They have no idea what I can do!

They told me 7-10 years for mine...I also went through them in less then a year! Mine are full length but have like a cork bottom, when I can get my new pair they will have a hard plastic bottom that a friend swears by(she is a triathlete and PT)

My new ones are definitely different than the old ones, not sure yet if that's a good thing. The old ones were only the 3/4 length so I was constantly getting blisters around the balls of my feet where they ended, and that was before I ever got into triathlons. They were also more rigid, my new ones have a little bit of give in them, not much, but just enough. The new ones also have a little bit of cushioning in the heel that I like.

Question for you. Do you use them when you're on your bike? I have a cheap pair that I use for riding. I'm just thinking that they would take to long to move from bike shoes to running shoes in transition.

Funny that I say short work day.  Technically I will be leaving at 2:30, but that's an 8 hour day for me.  It will seem short in comparison though

Good morning Ghoulies!

I have taken the day off of work! I'm feeling better than yesterday, but I typically get up at 4:20 to go to work. I did not set my alarm this morning. When I got up I got up and I'd decide then if I was going to go in. Staying in bed won out. I still have a bit of a headache, when that goes away I'm going to go get my run in.

HAVE A GREAT DAY GHOULIES!!!

Wow, a sofa and love seat is some pretty grown up furniture.  I hope you picked out something that won't clash with your bike (because we all have our bikes in the house at some point, don't we?).

Well I spent the last several years after getting out of school with several roommates and hand-me-down furniture that I really didn't mind spilling food or beer on.  I figured now that I'm living on my own I might as well get something nice.  I did cry a little as I thought about how the money could be going to a new bike instead

Oh and it definitely won't clash with the bike.  A couple more weeks and I'll be trainer bound till March.  I definitely had to factor in the trainer setup when contemplating the living room layout.
