MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() So, my Monday started out rotten, but before I go any farther I am going to say that I am thankful that I even have the opportunity to voice a complaint. First, I had a dentist appointment scheduled for this morning. That is bad enough, but when I went to leave, the garage door would not open. Turns out that the spring broke when hubby shut the door as he left for work. I felt a shudder in the house, but looking around did not see anything. But when the door would not open two hours later, I looked up and saw the broken spring. And that door is just too darn heavy to open without the springs. So I called hubby and he starts heading home. Called a neighbor and they loan me their car so I can go to the dentist whose office is only 3 miles away. I should have walked, I would have gotten there quicker. I turn right out of the neighborhood and immediately the road is at a dead stop with traffic. Highly unusual on that road as it is a little side street, not a major road. I immediately turn around and head off in the other direction. Get to the next street, which is a major road and it too is all backed up, but I have no choice but to join them. It took me 70 minutes to drive the 3 miles to the dentist office. I called them at 8:30 which is when my appointment was for to let them know. The guy on the phone was like "traffic is always bad at this time" and I say "No, this is worse than normal" I could tell he did not believe me. 15 minutes later I call back as I have only gone 1 mile at this point. This time the girl who answered said that I was not the only person calling in and to keep coming. They would make sure I was seen. I finally arrived for my 8:30 appointment at 9:30, and I was their first patient to even arrive that morning. Turns out there was a fatal accident on a road that is a major artery for commuters and that road was shut down which caused all this traffic. So, as I said, I am thankful that I have the opportunity. I feel for the family who lost their father and now have a son in critical condition at the hospital. They will be in my thoughts and prayers. And with my car stuck in the garage and the dentist taking longer (I will need a root canal done at the beginning of next year) I decided that I was not going into work. I miss a Christmas lunch with my boss and peers, and I will miss the big Library/IT party tonight. Oh well. |

We got a few inches of snow overnight, and it was sleeting when I should have left for work so I am WFH today. The kiddos have a 2 hour delay this morning, too. Keri's Christmas concert was very nice last night.

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OH! And I think I broke a toe yesterday afternoon. As I was rushing around the house, trying to find something to wear to both a basketball game, and a chorus concert, I went downstairs to put wood in the woodstove. The wood we are burning right now is heavy, hard wood, I was grabbing a piece off of the cart and pulled the one under it out and it dropped on 2 of my toes. I think the toe beside my pinkie is broken, it is purple and blackish, and was twice its size by the time I got back upstairs. It hit my middle toe, too, but I think that one is just really bruised, not broken. I ended up having to change outfits because I could no longer wear the shoes I was going to wear out to the events of the evening. Even having the sheets on my bed touching my toe last night was painful. I have the 2 of them taped together, and will try to keep it propped up today. |

With my toe, I probably won't get out. Kiddos are busy today, but Keri may be able to go tomorrow after school. It is supposed to be in the 50's this weekend, that's not good for sledding. |

Hot Chocolate run sounds good. My neighbor brought over homemade fudge to thank us for some help we gave her in her yard this fall. ooooh, it is some of the BEST fudge I have ever had. (and I have had a lot! ). Some of it is peanutbutter and some of it is chocolate mint. yummm |

MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Well, hubby got bad news today. We knew it was coming but still had hope it would not be the case. He is going to have to have hip replacement surgery on his right hip. Good news is once he has the surgery he will be out of pain. They are going to schedule it for February it looks like. |

We got a Christmas card in the mail the other day, and I handed it to Keri, like I usually do, to open. She looked at the return address and pretty excitedly said IS THIS FROM ROBIN!!??!!?? I told her you were the only Proctor I knew, but she should open it to check. Thank you for the card! |

Surgery is worrying but EVERYONE I know that has had their hip or knees replaced has been so very thankful that they did the surgery and wondered why they lived in such pain for so long. February is a good time. Get the healing out of the way and then get to play all summer! |

MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Robin & Ann, yes I agree, getting pain free will be well worth it. Hopefully with the holidays he can take him mind off of the surgery, but with the pain as a constant reminder I know that will be hard. And don't take this wrong, I love him, but he sure can be dramatic. Women work through pain, men sit in chairs and complain. So, I will be happy when the surgery is over just for that reason alone. Of course I will be happy for him to be pain free.
