Just get one at the Moody gardens resort, that is walking distance to the course and where the expo and such are. Are you guys planning on doing the carbo load dinner? I wasn't that impressed with it at Mooseman. We should find some place on our own to go eat. John said he worked out a place for us to ship our bikes to that would put them together (I think, it's been awhile since we had that discussion.) |

Again another race with Olympics and HIM's. Wonder if they will keep the oly's in there also, I hope so. Miami was also a great race. Very nice swim in a super clear lake. Extra flat ride, but with some good wind, and a run through the Miami zoo. |

KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS!!! dalessit - 2009-09-30 1:35 PM Just get one at the Moody gardens resort, that is walking distance to the course and where the expo and such are. Totally agree w/ Tony on this. Are you guys planning on doing the carbo load dinner? I wasn't that impressed with it at Mooseman. We should find some place on our own to go eat. Mario's on 61st Street. One of the best restaurants on the island, close to Moody Gardens and shorts and a shirt is fine. John said he worked out a place for us to ship our bikes to that would put them together (I think, it's been awhile since we had that discussion.) I think we should have it again soon. The shop listed on the site to ship to, Tri on the Run said they had about 20 bikes come in last year and were not sure if they could handle all of us shipping it to them on top of everyone else shipping it in. I'll ping the owner again things may have changed. I also wonder if Keith is going to contract with a bike transport company. Edited by fattyfatfat 2009-09-30 1:49 PM |

I love that he's in transition with everyone else for this pic. Some of the other guys on the MG can talk more about his bike but lets just say its $$$. Well...since it is an early season 70.3, for all of you fast folks in your AG, if you come in first, YOU get to go to KONA!!! that is at least true of the CA 70.3 I am doing in March, not that I can come anywhere close to 1st AG, but hey, a girl can dream...1st 5 AG can qualify Clearwater... Again, not anywhere close this year, but...hey...if i can learn to swim a little (ok, a lot) faster, you never know! |

Elite 3072 san francisco | Subject: RE: SWBKRUN Mentor Group-Closed! KEEP ASKING QUESTIONS!!! Havin'Fun - 2009-09-30 7:28 AM Chris, I am in my second year of tris's and doing IMFL this Nov (yikes). I would not focus on how long you have been doing this sport. Realistically, you have done a 1/2 (and were awesome BTW), so the next step (in my opinion) is to look at the IM training plans and figure out if you have the time to train for it. Keep in mind it isn't just the 6 hr ride or the 3 hr run, but also factor in the time it takes to get out there and then "clean up" after.....I have found that piece is really time consuming. Another factor is the fatigue. Some days you will be so tired you don't think you can function! Also, look at the races and see what best fits your timetable. IMKY may be close, but does training and racing in the heat sound good to you? Some like it, some can't do it. (I know it wasn't hot this year, but typically Aug is hot in KY). Also look at the race itself....the swim (some like the river swim in KY, some don't - some like the ocean in FL, some don't, etc.) the bike, the run...hills, flat, whatever. Look at everything for each race. But I think the biggest piece to consider is the family time -that is a huge sacrifice (it may be due to training or due to fatigue)...I am fortuate that I don't work so I can train alot during the day....but I have missed some "family time" and that is tough for me...and for my family. Good luck. Oh, and just know once you hit that submit button when signing up you will freak out with a "What the heck did I just do ?" That's natural....all part of the fun! Chris, I know you CAN do it and do it well, but the training has to be there. It would be my main problem, because finding the time to train these long a$$ rides and runs with a full time job is my main reason for holding off right now. When I can switch to 3.5 to 4 days of work, yes, I am going to commit, but until then, I can't fathom missing that much family time. 7 hours away from home on a weekend day, when there are just 2 of them is just way to much to ask. In the meantime, I hope to become better at the HIM distance! And try to improve my bike and swim so I can come off the bike like you and Barry! Good luck with your decision! |
