I'm here

finally!

Hi Nibbs - did I miss the party?

Maybe you are the party.... hows it goin Beth?

it's going well!

and you?  ready for the weekend?  any big plans?

Well... I seem to have lost my ATM card so unless its at home in the pocket of jeans I had one yesterday... I think my plans might have to change...

Right now it was:

Friday: Work drinks, home to curl up and eat good food/watch girlie DVD since I have the house to myself

Saturday: Markets, Haircut

Sunday: Catch up with a friend who I must remember to call later

Spokes - 2008-05-16 12:42 PM I am going to the beach. Its supposed to be over 100 the next couple of days; it was hot riding home tonight, but its a dry heat.

Sounds like a good weekend to ride then!

Are you going to get IN the water this time?

Just remember to wear lots of sunscreen and top it up every two hours... and stay out of the sun where possible!

Good morning Nibbs!

You should see the bruises on my thigh from my chiro appointment yesterday. They are real purty. But at least it doesn't hurt to walk today

Happy Friday!

D001 - 2008-05-15 8:30 PM Hi Pam, Hi Cat, Hi Kristen, Hi Amy! Cat - 10 min is good the first time out. Starting slow = less chance of injury. Amy - I saw that "oops" post! Well, the remains of it, not the text that you first entered. (Now it says something meaningful like "duh." Has anyone here ever been on an interview committee (or interviewed someone for a job)? Just wondering....

Yes.  HR had quite a bit of input into interview strategy.  We use a team approach: targeted selection.  PM me if you have questions...

Morning Nibbs...19 mile bike commute into work this morning...I'm tired...

Me me!!!

We wrapped up the interviews today. It was strange - to me, at least. The person in charge just wanted us to rank everyone. There was no discussion about what we thought. I dunno. I was expecting us all to talk about it? (Ie: who would do the best job, or fit into the department best, etc.) I guess it's just a personality thing. I wanted to talk. The committee chairperson just wanted to be done with it.... I dunno. I feel disturbed by the lack of discussion somehow. Then again, I *am* a chatter.... Just in case you didn't notice. LOL

Team discussion seems like it would be a mandatory part of the discussion...is the person in charge a control freak not into hearing feedback?

Ouch!  Yay for walking!

Got a bruise myself this morning.  'Clipped' in after a light, but wasn't really clipped in.  Foot slipped out of the pedal, and the pedal gave me a nasty cut/bruise...I hate stoplights...

Spokes - 2008-05-16 9:17 AM Good job on commuting in. 19 would be a nice distance one-way, but that starts to get to the point - even if you're fast - of at least an hour. How long did it take you?

More than an hour...85 minutes...I'm taking my mountain bike and carrying a messenger bag, so definitely not in it for speed.  There'a a few spots rough spots where I really don't want to ruin my road/tri rims or risk flats, so I take my mountain bike with road slicks.

I drive the van north of the river and park at Lifetime Fitness.  Start bike commuting at 6:20 and it gets me into work in time to get a shower in.

Thing that stinks is there are lights in Bloomington and Edina, but once I get to the Lakes area, it's pretty much trail the rest of the way into work.

Morning Nibbs!

It's been an interesting morning so far.  Got an eyebrow wax that used "hard wax" so none of those cloth strips.  It hurt way less and looks a lot better.  Slightly more expensive than the other version, but I think it was worth it.

We were defrosting our -20 C freezer in the lab.  Apparently it leaked into a classroom under the lab overnight.  Lots of people not very happy with us right now.  Not sure what is going to happen with that...

That seems odd. If you were supposed to rank the candidates, it seems like you ought to be able discuss your reasoning behind the ranking and get a consensus from the committee. But what do I know. I sit on my butt and watch people swim.
Yeah, see. I'm with you. Which is why I feel disturbed. Nooooo discussion, whatsoever. Can I come join you on the bench? I enjoy watching people swim. Do you get to twirl the whistle, too?
Yes. And carry the red rescue tube which makes me look important Come on down. I'll even certify you. Maybe the committee chair was trying to make you guys feel included. Because I don't think you can tell jack by ranking alone. You need to know each candidates' strengths, weaknesses and how those qualities will fit into your team. Has the decision already been made anf this is just part of the formalities?

Pam....sounds like you need to be running the hiring for Dees office from now on! I think ranking without a discussion is a BIG mistake and that hopefully they will not be doing this WHOLE process over again in a few months! Dee can you not talk to the committee leader on the side and see what her reasonings were?!?

When should I be there?

Actually, Sugar Daddy & the Monkeys and I are headed to Cap Ale House to consume some liquid carbs (well, at least Sugar Daddy and I are going to)...celebrate the end END of the semester - just gotta get the grades into the registrar's system and I'm golden.

Yeah!  Glad you are done.

The Monkeys will probably have liquid carbs, too, just in the less tasty soda (pop/coke/whatever) variety.
