lyssa-gator - 2009-01-11 1:33 PM ok, so i threw this idea out to julee a while back, and she keeps telling me to tell you guys and see what you think, but i seem to get on here and get all worked up about what you are all saying, then i forget. anyway, here was my idea, i think we should have a monthly award on here that our dearest most wonderful mentor GPOL will award- trophy Pictures, Images and Photos something like this, but it'll have to say the month on it. then you can post it in your blog for however long you want. anyway, the award will go to the triathlete that julee feels most deserving--maybe someone who finishes their first race? maybe someone who loses 5 pounds, maybe someone who overcomes their fear of open water, whatever it is--julee awards the GPOL trophy at the end of each month. what do you guys think?

sounds good to me!

I agree with Isabelle that it is a good idea, and rewards an individual for going the extra mile in various area ie: training, races, or overcoming obstacles...

Sounds good.  Can I nominate Julie to get it for January?  I don't think that she'll ever nominate herself...

Lyssa - Those stretches are the most effective, don't you think? Until everyone collapses in giggles, anyway.

I like the award idea, too. Put Julie's name on it first ...

Julie - I'd love to take the Patagonia windbreaker off your hands. I need one out here in the flatlands where we call the freeway overpasses mountains!

And happy anniversary!

I'm off to the lounge for the football game, now.

Trish

The patagonia jacket is yours..pm me with your address. I am going to wait and send all the things I offered to you all at the end of next week after round two of what I have to offer. That way if you see something else I can place them together in the same box instead of shipping lots of boxes....Have a great weekend...and go Chargers, I mean Steelers, I mean Chargers... haha

I know, I think the dq is rediculous  and too strict for first timers....... but we will be timed 15 minutes and then have to get out, normally in that time I can do 10 laps (or almost 10)...... I normally do better when I swim with friend or race for fun (i've never won)...... lol

The trick will be to keep my feet up, so starting tomorrow I'll wrok on that.......lol it's always something ! te ehee

Glad you like my rubber ducky counting system ! lol

Subject: RE: GIRL PASSING ON LEFT MENTOR GROUP (OPEN)

Hey!

I would love to be in your group, I feel that you would be a perfect match for me and I feel that I too, could contribute to the group!

This is my first mini triathalon, I will be competting in April and it consists of a 400 yd swim, 14 mile bike, and 3 mile run. I used to run cross country and track at Texas A&M University, but don't have too much biking/ swimming experience. Is there any words of advice you have for the beginning and first week/s training and what they should consist of?

Thanks,

Brooke Lynne

Hi Brooke Lynne,

My advice to you would to be get in the pool (join a masters swim team if possible) and start training on a bike, even if it is stationary....do you own a bicycle? and if so do you ride it all? and what kind of bike? love the picture of you with the guitar...will you play a little tune for us?

Hello and Good Morning to you BT group. I hope it's a great day/week for everyone.

Well I did my weigh in and lost 3 pounds, I wanted more but I will take it. What about anyone else?
I would like to do a little weight loss challenge if it's ok with Julie. Maybe we could put the people that want to lose 10 in a group, the people that want to lose 20 in a group and so on...
I will give the winner in each group a T-shirt with a motivational saying on it and their name.
What does everyone think??? I know I want to lose 30, any other takers?

Quote for the day:

Anyone that thinks they can...CAN. Anyone that thinks they CAN'T...Can't. It is a matter of ATTITUDE!

Yep, it's just a hop, skip and a jump...

We will meet sometime I'm sure... You need to consider the open water tri that the Evansville YMCA has in August, you can go to http://www.ymca.evansville.net/main_specialevents/triathlon.html
they don't have the 2009 date yet, but you can look over the information.

Can't wait to meet.

Morning!

I had a bad swim today. I just didn't have any energy. I was supposed to be doing sprint sets alternating with regular sets but it just wasn't happening. I nearly gave it up completely around the halfway mark but managed to finish off 90% of of my intended workout. Can I go back to bed?
