He's drawing a distinction between what is posted to the "official club website" and what goes on with the Yahoo email group. Since you can't participate on the Yahoo group without being a member of the club I'd argue that it's a defacto extension of the club. Whatever. I've lost a lot of respect for the guy. |

That's kind of what I would think. If it's a Yahoo Group for the club, then it seems like people would think it's part of the club. |

Regular 63 Fort Myers, FL | Subject: RE: Artemis's Group - FULL! morrisel - 2010-03-01 1:34 PM I will be participating in the peach challenge again! Sad to see how far I fell off the wagon in february but I'm putting the hammer down! My other goals for the month: get new running shoes, sign up for the Cocoa Beach Tri on 4/18, do a 5k, and complete 25 minute running (without stops)! So I have an update on my goals....I have gotten new running shoes and have signed up for my first triathlon! It's on 4/18/2010 so it's coming up fast! Now I just have to focus on my non-monetary goals! |

Pro 4343 Olney, MD | Subject: RE: Artemis's Group - FULL! I ended up riding a local paved trail (Rock Creek trail) from it's start about 5 miles from home to just short of the DC line. With the 5+ miles from home to the trail head I did 40+ miles. The sun was in and out of light clouds. I was never quite warm enough to lose the long sleeve jersey but I frequently had it zipped down and the sleeves pushed up. I lost the trail at one point coming back and ended out at the road at the wrong place and needed to look at my iPhone map to figure out what to do. My bike got a well deserved cleaning when we were done. We're going to a play tonight and I'm taking tomorrow off, too! :) |

The play is "Bus Stop" at the Olney Theatre, less than two miles from home. |

Regular 130 Albany, NY | Subject: RE: Artemis's Group - FULL! Thanks everyone for the well wishes on my half! It was a really challenging course and I will definately do it again next year. Was hoping to PR, but my knees (both of them!!!), wouldn't have any of it. 6 miles in, I was on my way to the PR, but in the next few miles my knees were starting to bother me. Still OK enough to run through the pain, so I did. Didn't realize how much I had slowed down until I heard my time at mile 9 and I realized I wasn't even go to break the 2 hour mark. That's when I kinda gave up. I dropped the hope for the PR, and then it was no longer about the race - it was Kim vs. the knees. So the next 4 miles were on and off walking and shuffling. But I still came out with a 9:36 pace which I'm still happy about considering. Knees hurt like hell though. This will take a while to heal; so I need to figure out how to heal whatever this is + keep training for a marathon that's only in 3 months. Maybe it's time to see a doc? Hope everyone else had a good weekend!! |

That's amazing that you were able to bear with the pain and keep moving. I hope your knees feel better and maybe it is time to see a doc about them On another note, I'm going to the Washington Nationals Spring Training game tonight! It's been beautiful the last couple days with sunshine and mid-70's. I wish you were all here so we could go running together! I'm sure some sunshine would be a nice change from all the snow! Happy Monday! |

Hope everyone else had a good weekend!! Congratulations on finishing, Kim!!! Way to stick it out. I would get it checked out by a doc. If it turns out to be nothing serious, you'll be reassured and more confident in your training. It might be something as simple as physical therapy (which is what it was for me). |

Regular 277 Bolivar, OH | Subject: RE: Artemis's Group - FULL! Hey kim congrats on your half. I am sorry it didnt go the way you wanted it too. Im sorry you are having troubles with your knees still. I was too back in December. I went to a doctor had an MRI and spent a whole bunch of money and mine ended up just overtraining and building to much too fast. Thats why now I am at a snails pace building my miles. I am strictly sticking to a 10% gain a week and I will have to admit that I have not had any pain in my knees at all. It is taking me a while to build my miles up though. Edited by TRIMAN413 2010-03-16 9:00 AM |

I finally set up an appointment with an orthopedic, he specializes in sports medicine too - so hopefully he'll understand my itch to get right back into things. lol. I feel like it might be the IT band; and I hope that I can maintain some patience while training!! I'll see what he says on Thursday. |

Member 64 | Subject: RE: Artemis's Group - FULL! Hi everyone! I finished my first half marathon on Sunday, and it was great! I was worried about my knee, I had fallen on a run 4 days before the race and got some big scrapes. I was also so scared of having stomach issues during the race - I had that problem on a few long runs and a nasty stomach virus hit some friends and DH a few days before the race. But my knee was fine and no stomach issues at all. My knee is pretty tender to the touch now, hopefully it will be better in a few days. I had hoped to run it in 2:20, but I finished in 2:26:59. I knew 2:20 would be a stretch. My Garmin read 13.45 so either my Garmin was off or I did some extra zigzagging I am setting my goals on entering a couple sprints and 5Ks over the next 4-5 months, and improving my running speed. DH wants to go to Vegas in December for the Rock N Roll marathon, I'll probably go and do the half. Anyone have any upcoming races in a few weeks? |
