13.5 hours last week which included a 12 mile run, 80 mile bike, and a 4400 yard swim.  Had a good temp run as well.

Labor Day weekend I am traveling to Panama City, Fl to do a workout tri as part of my training.  1 hour swim, 80 on the bike, and 4.5 mile brick.  The portion of the 112 I miss on Saturday I plan on riding on Sunday morning about 35 or so.  Anyone interested let me know.  I have been communicating with the Panama City Running and Triathlon club and I am meeting them at Frank Brown Park in Panama City to do the ride.  They are planning on doing the whole 112 in day I going to stick with training plan and do 80 plus the swim and bike.   I will let the group know how it goes.

Was looking at the map of the course.  On the people that have done the course is there gas stations along the course to stop to fill up with water.  The area looks rural and I was wondering on the availability of water when I ride this weekend.

As I recall, there are definitely gas stations at the intersection of 79 and 20 (pretty sure) and 77 and 20 (for sure).  There are definitely places to buy fluids all the way up until you pass 98 going north as well (first 8-9 miles).  I don't specifically recall gas stations anywhere else on the course.

I posted a ride report (from a 2010 course pre-ride) a few pages back on this thread.

Almost didn't make it through last week.  Car was stolen.  The bike wasn't inside, luckily.  However, all the little things were.  Cycling shoes, bike pump, helmet, training wheels...etc.   None of the cycling shops have my shoe in my size so I had to order them last Monday.  Friday still no shoe.  I ended up driving to another city to pickup any shoe that would fit so I wouldn't throw the entire week away.  Got in a few rides this past weekend so it wasn't a complete wash.  I'm just glad that week is over.

Luckily we weren't affected too much by Irene.  The pool closed down Friday because of the storm but that was the extent of it.  Hmmm, so I missed two cycle sessions and one pool session last week.  I guess it's not the end of the world but it felt like it for  a few minutes.

"As for me I had a bike fit last week which was great .... except for the saddle change.  I now have a Adamo saddle that feels like I'm sitting on a piece of concrete.  I've given it three rides now (2xtrainer, one outside) and I'll give it one last chance this weekend on my long ride .... perhaps Adamos are acquired tastes ?"

Ha!  I understand.  That was me about 6 weeks ago.  It took at least 3 weeks to get used to it.  Now I love it.  Well as much as you can love any seat after 5 hours   At least nothing goes numb.

Make sure you sit on it correctly.  Need to be way up front.  Watch the video at their site if needed.  As someone else said you are using new sit areas and it hurts!  But, I was very disappointed in those 3 weeks.  Very uncomfortable.   I was wondering what the heck I did.  Why did I switch seats?  then all of  sudden I didn't notice it anymore - that meant I had a good seat.

enjoy,

Duane

OK - thanks for the various bits of advice.  I'll give it a bit more time - off to Ocean City MD this weekend (or what's left of it post-Irene) and will put in some miles then.

Agree 100% with Duane, I was having numbing issues too and made the switch to Adamo and was not happy for awhile until I took it for a long ride and felt fantastic afterwards.

If anyone is interested in staying in the Boardwalk Condos, we are probably looking to drop one of our reservations. I believe it is a 2 bedroom that sleeps 6.

There are actually 3 stations along the course.  one at 79 and 20,  one at 20 and 77 as you turn back south, one at the next intersection...i believe 388?  It is a pretty good haul around the loop back to the middle station, so I would suggest making sure you are full at the 3rd station.   When we rode a few weeks ago, we were dry for several miles because we did not stop at the third station.

Hey,

I am planning to race next year, and I would like to stay there. How soon should I make a reservation? When did you do this one?

Thanks

Ok...IM Louisville done.  Now I can think about Augusta and IM Florida.  This is going to be a real treat.  I get to ride the course every week as I live here.  Thank God no mountains like in Louisville.

Happy and safe training everyone.

August totals:

Bike:  505 miles

Run:  91 miles

Swim:  23500yds or 13.35miles

And just signed up for Augusta.  I hope my wheels will survive until Florida.  I have some RealDesign Supersonic 60s with my 06 QR caliente.  I have broken 3 spokes in the last month.  Can't afford new wheels right now, especially after my WTC donation today.  Not sure why they are all of a sudden popping so bad -- too much torque?  hardly.

I started looking in January and was able to book a good place fairly quickly. There are a lot of different places that are offered on VRBO though.
