The community center was full tonight for some event. I actually had people come out to watch me swim but it wasn't because I was a great swimmer, it was because they thought I was crazy. They were cold and wearing coats and thought I was nuts, I couldn't help but smile inside. I used to swim all the time in an outdoor pool in the winter in eastern Oregon. I loved swimming with snow all over the ground around me! The pool was awesome because it was heated with hot spring water! I miss that pool. That's what HOT TUBS are for, not swimmin' pools... Coolest tubbin' was at a B&B in February that had an outdoor hot tub...froze our heinies off sprinting from the inn to the hot tub in bathrobes & bare feets, but sitting there watching the snow in the moonlight was amazing. (I will never forget the sprint back, though - that sucked.) |

I change avatars very well. This is the pool in my backyard, btw. D001 - 2007-12-12 8:16 PM You could get a job changing avatars. LOLHCS5QA - 2007-12-12 11:14 PM Well, I try. But I don't think I'll be giving up my day job anytime soon. (Hi Hector!) D001 - 2007-12-12 8:05 PM kns57 - 2007-12-12 10:57 PM Um, Kendra.... you're not on Hector's team, either. That said, *I* am VERY happy that you swam today. D001 - 2007-12-12 9:53 PM Shoot Him? Hector is bringing out the big guns. I swam 2000 today. Woohoo! HCS5QA - 2007-12-12 5:34 PM Hm. I got to the words "Shoot him" and thought "Gee Hector, isn't that a little extreme?" Good thing I kept reading. Sorry to hear he's dropping out of the challenge. Unfortunately, it happens. However, I swam 1900 yards today! Woohoo! Oh wait. I'm not on your team. Nevermind. Hello Evil Elves, I had a good cycle session this morning and plan on hitting the pool in the evening. On a sad note Devil_will_Ride is no longer with us due to pool closure and work conflict issues. Shoot him an inspire if you get a chance and I hope things get better at work for him. With that said, get in the pool and swim, swim, swim. Comedians everywhere! LOL If that's the pool in your back yard we're all coming over to your place for a swim party. |

Now we need to hear wacky lifeguard stories. My wacky pool story of the week might be tough to describe in writing... you sort of had to bear witness but I shall try. A guy came in and stood on the pool deck... he was, ummm... stretching?? I want you to imagine putting your arms over your head and then very, very slowly pushing them out and down as if you were doing breast stroke in slow motion. He would arch his back and look up at his hands when his arms were overhead and then as he did the, ummm... stroke?... he would round out his back. Then, he proceeded to get in the water and do exactly the same thing at the end of the lane and then again while walking the lane. Eventually, he swam.

I'm a self proffessed hot spring junkie! There is a natural hot spring in the middle of no where in the middle of Idaho that sits on a slope in the mountains. The water is crudely piped out of the ground with a garden hose. When you want to soak, you just put the pipe in an old fashioned claw foot tub on the side of the hill (yes, open to the whole world) and fill 'er up! The water is tinted margarita green from all the copper in the ground, too. Very pretty. I'm not sure how anyone got the tub to its location. They had to have used a mule or something. Or maybe 10 huge guys! |

LOL, no he wasn't... does your spin instructor double as the lifeguard?? No, no - I left fur glove man in ATL...wacky lifeguard is here in RIC. He's a good guy, but he's so awkward looking in street clothes - a older/middle-aged man, skinny as all heck, with salt&pepper hair and glasses. He's a really nice guy - don't get me wrong. He checks in on my workouts occasionally & always says hi to me by name. But when you see him at the Y when he's off-duty & wearing jeans, you just want to laugh. (Or maybe it's just me. I think perhaps you put a wee bit of evil in my heart...) |
