Hi to everyone. YOu are all doing great on your training. I did not do the ironman challenge since I swim only for time right now and only bike twice a week. Once I am keeping track of my swim distance and when I can ride outside on Sundays I would love to try the challenge though.  With the way the weather has been that should most likely be in April. A weekly challenge as proposed by KAthy G would be great for Feb. Maybe we could post our weekly goals on the thread on Sunday night and run the challenge  Mon-Sun...  Any thoughts?

For those of you in southern New England I noticed a post on the RI thread that Providence Bicycle in Providence is having a tri night on wed Feb 4 it sounds interesting. The folks from RHode Runner will be there too.

Have a great day!

Thanks for the advice everyone. My back is feeling much better after a little yoga and a swim this morning. I'm planning a trip to the gym specifically for the hot tub after my ride tomorrow and I think that might just do the trick.

Good work Kathy.

I have returned from my brief holiday in Banff. It was cold. Fortunatly the hotel had a pool so I managed to swim Sunday and Monday.

Ate lots of good food. Gave the legs a rest. Ready to get back at it.

That is truly awesome.  I am very impressed.

I will have to bail on the Ironman thing for this month because I am just not getting the bike in.  I have looked at my schedule for February and see a whole lot more bike time.  I like the idea of weekly goals, mentioned above.

Looking again at those numbers - it is staggering.

Weekly challenges to stick to our training plans would be good.  FOr those battling injury a plan including how you are working on that weakness (ie PT/chiro) would be good too.  My hip fleors are acting up again so my running will be shorter for a while.  My plan is shorter runs with more PT until they stop balking at long runs.

Hiya - Sorry I havent been around much this week and iVe been a bit slow on the inspires too!!! Sorry!!!

Its 4 sleeps until me and 14 of my work colleagues do a triathlon! Im the only one in the group that has done one before so there have been a few last minute panics from people plus just bits and pieces to get organised!

Race shirts have been sent and Im waiting to see them... I picked up everyone elastic laces on the weekend...we have a get together on Friday... about half the group is staying out near the race venue the night before (including me).. and we are *hoping* we can get some supporters t-shirts donated from marketing.

Im in the process of finding somewhere for a celebration lunch after the race and Ive written out a race day timetable/race day contacts list/race day what to pack list for the group...

Im nervous/excited and feel pretty responsible for everyone!!! Im feeling run down so my taper might = rest days more than anything but thats ok with me too!

I cannot wait to see all these woman do their first race... I cant believe its actually happening!!! What started as a bit of a light conversation is actually going to happen! WOW!

How exciting!  We'll be there in spirit! It's a wonderful thing that you are doing - a tri is intimidating the first time, and so much more fun if you have a mentor!

It is amazing to see all this develop and take place. Women came to your meeting, wanted to do a tri and you helped all of them train and now it is their first triathlon. You must feel a bit like a proud Mom seeing them do something new and big.

I wish we could all be there with cowbells cheering you all on.

You never know what a spark of motivation you may have given a women or women that will carry them beyond this first tri to change their life and try new things, grow and become a better fit person.

Great job and have fun out there too Cat!

Your enthusiasm certainly shows.  And we will be there cheering you on in spirit, since we can't be there in person.  These ladies certainly are lucky to know you and to have you encouraging them.

I went to WW today and was down 0.4 pounds.  Better than a poke in the eye, but certainly not very much.  And I know perfectly well that it was because I did essentially no running last week.  I am up for weekly goals so that I can get myself some weekly results in running and biking.  Apparently yoga and Crossfit and swimming aren't enough for serious weight loss.

Thanks everyone... I still cant quite believe that somehow I have pulled this off... its a BIG race for me too... my first sprint in 3 years so thats pretty daunting all on its own...

But Im hoping having others there in support etc will actually lift me, especially as Im prone to negative self talk in my head during the run!

Its all coming together I just cant quite believe it... and my 'Mother Hen' tendancies are definatley coming out (you were right there Kathy!)

I should add that Judi was the one who suggested I join a mentor group this year to help support me through my triathlon 'come back' and everything I have going on with the work crew... Im so glad she did to!

Its been incredible so far to have this mentor group to offer such support and advice and everything all the way through the last month!

I got a wet suit!  OMG, is that baby tight.  Kind of like wearing a full body corset.  Feel a bit like a seal, but with pink swirls. Although I guess killer whale is more appropriate, since it says ORCA on the chest!!  Now I just need to find a place to try it out - rumor has it that I shouldn't in the pool.  NONE of our local lakes are open, and they look gross anyway.  This drought/weather has not been kind!

I think I finally understand my hubby's fascination with Sports Basement - I could easily spend as much money there as I do at Macy's!
