Hi all,

I only swam 750m today but it was a race swim. It was a fairly poor swim but I still beat my target and shaved off 5 minutes from last year!

No swim for me yesterday as I fell asleep at the wheel yesterday and crashed my car over a kerb and blew out both tires on the right hand side.  Thankfully I am ok however but will now have to do some catching up sometime.

Wow that suxxxxx Lynne! hope you are home catching up on some shut-eye! and the car....did it get all wrecked? sure the alignment has been knocked whacky! Hope you have a better day today!

I did a mile in the pool today.  That's my longest swim ever.

And I did it just so we could see boys in bathing suits. Tongue out

I have to get two swims into the spreadsheet.  They block google docs at work, so I need 5 minutes at home to sit down at my computer.  It will get updated over the weekend, I promise.  Don't want the boys thinking that they're winning.

We don't think we're winning. we KNOW it!!!!!!...

my b.s. detector...speaks for itself! we are sooooooo gonna win this challenge!

No swim today, too whooped from the Century.  Tomorrow I'll do a short drill set then soak in the hot tub long enough to make a second workout for a moderate set.

Im whipped  thinking of riding 100 miles! if you have a big enough tub...do a flip turn or two and add a few laps that way! Happy Mothers Day Judi.

Finally got another swim in the books.  It took some will power to drive my lazy self to the pool but once I got there I had a lane all to myself.  Usually it's a madhouse on Sundays.

Hope everyone had a fab weekend!

CAN ANYONE SUGGEST A WEBSITE WHERE I MIGHT GET SOME BASIC INFO ON HOW TO SHIFT A BIKE DURING THE COURSE OF A RIDE...

Are you asking about WHEN to shift while you are riding at the appropriate time?

It's based off of "feel" or how easy/hard it is to pedal.  If you base it off cadence, then you should be around 80 to 100 revolutions per minute (for one foot to make a complete circle when pedaling).

You want to be as comfortable as possible, not winded (except for hills, which is given).  If the pedaling is TOO easy, then shift up one or two.  If pedaling is making your legs hurt or it's hard to pedal, then shift down.

If you have a tri bike, stay in aero as much as you can to reserve your energy.  Standing up and pedaling up a hill should only be done if you are racing and want that power, or have to get up a hill faster, but, you burn more energy.

I hope this helps.
