Still deciding on whether or not to do this race or not. Have raced in one HIM in 2009 and then not a single race in 2010. Should be decided by the end of the month.

@The Cube

I know how you feel; I live in Savannah, Ga during the summer months last year. It was unbelievable how hot it got. 40+ consecutive days of above 90 degrees. I was doing half marathons on the treadmill, i hated it.

In Rio now, heading out to do a "base" 8mi run in 88 degree/90% humidity. Why is it so hard to force yourself to run SLOW to build base? Its harder then people think.

Subject: Ironman Louisville Group Training Weekends
As in past years I'll be coordinating group training weekends for IM Louisville.  The dates for the six trainings are April 23, May 21, June 11, July 10 (Sunday), July 23 and August 6.  Five of these dates are Saturdays.  The first two dates (04/23 and 05/21) will include either 80 or 112 mile bike and an optional 4,5 or 6 mile brick run afterwards.  The remaining dates (with the exception of July 10th) will include a Saturday 8-9am Ohio River swim behind Towhead Island (with kayaks for safety), 80 and 112 mile bike route rides and Sunday long runs (9-13 miles) on the IM Louisville run course.  SAG (including regular rest stops with water, ice, Gatorade, fruit, energy bars, etc...) will be provided for the bike rides (cost $10/rider) and water will be supplied for the runs.  There may be a small ($3-5 charge) for those swimming to pay our safety kayakers.  The group will meet at the Yellow Lot at River Road (1/4 mile EAST of Tumbleweeds Restaurant (IM Louisville swim start area) which is located at 1201 River Road in Louisville.  We will be working on possible accomodation arrangements (either hotel discounts or staying with locals) for out of towners wishing to stay over for the summer Sunday runs.  Information is being posted regularly on these trainings at www.IAMTRI.com under the IM Louisville 2011 group....which has about 300 members all doing the race this August.  I'll try to stay connected with this group at BT as well.  My email is [email protected] if you have specific questions.  This is the third year we have been offering these rides and all who have done them say it makes a huge difference to see and "feel" the bike course at least once before taking on IM Louisville.  Riders are required to sign a release waiver prior to participating in the trainings.

Subject: Group Rides
Another point on the group rides.....The bike rides will begin at 9:30am sharp on each of the six dates.  This timing allows those coming from short/moderate distances outside of Louisville to come in, train and get home same day.

You could do what I did, tell your wife you are thinking about it, then do it and tell her a few days later.  She actually wasn't too pissed about it.

Niiiice. Talk it over, explain what it's going to take and lay out your plan of taking this on and how it will impact your life. It's a lot of coin and time to "suprise" somebody with.
Just my $0.02.
Peace.

ha, ha.. (grinning) or do what I did, I told my wife six months later while watching a re-run of Kona, specially watching the guy from Biggest Loser crossing the finish line and missing the cut-off time by a few minutes. She was bawling  from other storiesCry so that's when I told her Cool.

Nice.  My wife and I had talked about it and she knew I was going to sign up, she just did realize I was going to pull the trigger on the race when I did.

To each its own. Signing up for this year was A LOT! easier. After finishing and crossing the line, Maureen said, "you need to sign up for next year ASAP".

Signed up for IM Louisville a couple months ago and just found this website.  So excited to see everyone who is doing this race.  Training here in Tampa, FL so I hope I will be ready for heat.  Not many hills in in central Florida.

Bob, Thanks for putting these together and for the advance notice. I was not able to participate in any of these events last year but I hope to do so this year and the advanced notice certainly helps. What time are the Sunday group runs scheduled? Thanks again.
