stevesflyshop - 2012-08-30 8:48 AM Morning TAN. My wife's knee surgery went well and I've been doing my best to be a good "caregiver." I am not very good at it but I'm trying. We are now off to PT.

Well, I hope for a speedy recovery.

Thanks. It was a lateral release procedure but they also repaired some small tears in the miniscus as well. She's doing good.

We have a "traveling caterer" come buy and I bought a breakfast from her the other day.  Hard boiled egg and some cheese, and a tiny croute de te...  Paid 4 bucks.

I realized if I just took an ounce of energy to prepare it myself, I could make the same thing for aboug 75 cents.  So made some hard boiled eggs last night...  And a gremlin ate them.

Big Appa - 2012-08-30 8:37 AM Sup Kido, how's it going?

Better!  You?  How are the kids?

They are good, we had a great day together.

Oh so my girl said she wants to learn how to surf so I bought a foam surf board for her to learn on. I guess she went home saying how she is going to learn so her mom bought a surfing lesson for her this week. My kids loved it so I will be taking them this weekend for more surfing at with the lessons their mom is paying for they already know the basics so I get to just have fun with them. Thanks ex

That's cool.  Seems like she tried to "one up" you a bit, but it's not going to work.  They will bond with YOU over the surfing not the person who payed.  So a win for you.  Plus it's more ammo to keep them in CA (not much, but SOMETHING).

Yep that’s exactly how I look at it too. I will be in the water with them laughing and having fun so it's bonding for us. With the lessons they will get better faster too so that’s a win for the kids and thats all that really matters.

We had a great time last night. After homework was all done we had music on 11 and we were dancing around and acting like fools. After we were lying on the ground catching our breath and I asked my kids if they like doing this or if they will be ok just skyping with me with no hugs or emotions. My girl smiled and replied "Ya, I see what you mean. I would miss this too much to move" My boy chimed in saying the same thing.

Morning TAN!

Wondering what show I should start watching now... I saw a couple of episodes of Breaking Bad (looks pretty good - I might continue that one), the pilot of American Horror Story (bizarre, and not sure I liked it), and have caught up on True Blood (what the H E L L is going ON with that show - it's getting ridiculous!) and now looking for something else to give a whirl.

Any suggestions?

Man vs. Food. Best.show.ever...

Is it back on or just reruns?  I used to love that show and make note of the places to visit them when I went to those cities.  Actually, a LOT of those travel/food shows I did that.  Make note of the place and eat there if I had the chance...

He does iterations of it in a different spin. I had the Adam Richman sandwich at Chaps Pit Beef in Baltimore on Tuesday. Pit Beef, Corned Beef, Turkey and Italian Sausage on a sub roll. Absolutely awesome. What they don't show you on TV is that the restaurant is in the parking lot of a strip club and across the street from an adult book store (neither of which I frequented either).

I downloaded and used the food network road trips app to my iPad. That's very helpful to find the stuff you saw on there! Browse by city, cusine type, etc.

I made some hard boiled eggs too after i got home from the gym.. and ate three of them while standing over the sink.  Boom, dinner was served, no dishes were dirtied, win!

Love-love hard boiled eggs!!

Yes, it made me smile and it also kind of showed the kids what they would miss.

Going away speech for the boss?

I hosted a webinar once....that had about that many listening in. That was nerve-racking enough. Can't imagine 600 eyes looking at me. I don't mind giving presentations or talks to groups....but 50 is about my limit.

Good luck tonight......

Ack!  I had to speak in front of about 200 at a work team building meeting.  We were mostly drunk and we had to tell the group our most embarrassing moment .  In hindsight I should have picked my like 4th most embarrassing moment because after I shared my moment THAT moment became my most embarrassing moment.

Booze and a lot of people watching and sharing........does not sound like a good idea!

No.  It is not.  Funny at times though.  And we were encouraged to be "open" and with a baby pool full of good German beer provided by the owner ..  it was easier!

Don't be afraid to cry .. it would be an honest emotion, no?  I'm sure others will miss him too.

Yes, I am hoping for the cracked voice and maybe eyes welled with tears, opposed to the unable to get through the entire speech and I am last so the actual toast!

A half a glass of wine will take the edge off too.

You can do it! Don't be afraid to stumble or get emotional. The speech is for him not for the 300 so just act like you are just talking to him.
