Miles, yardage or time and at the end of the month we see who has the highest percentage per stated goal. Jim, that sounds great...almost like the December challenge... Now I'm going to have to start thinking about goals... |

Miles, yardage or time and at the end of the month we see who has the highest percentage per stated goal. Awesome! And if you're up for keeping the spreadsheet, that would be great. I'll think about my goals for the month. My swimming goal is 10,000m but that's as far as I've gotten. As for avatars... well, some people are going to have to change theirs anyway (Sal) for the February challenge (because my team has already been informed that I like my avatar and will be grumpy if I have to change it)... so we'll see.

It'll be in the low to mid-60s here tomorrow, Sal... pardon me while I duck and run... That's fine...if you don't like the summer avatar, I can revert back to the avatar of meditating Mojo Jojo...that could be my winter avatar...pfffftttt....
So sorry, Sal -- supposed to be 80 here tomorrow, 77 today, and 70 yesterday. But, Haven't enjoyed it because someone got me sick... Have you been casting your moko this way???

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Short report. 13.1 miles. 2 hours 1 minute 49 seconds per the Garmin. No official chip time yet. 52 degrees. Steady rain. 13 mile winds. First time running in Rain. Wore a cheap rain jacket they sold at the expo over my tri club bike jersey. Running in the rain isnt that bad. Standing in the rain for 20 minutes before they start the race sux azz. Glad I brought a change of clothes and shoes in the car as I waited for Suzie to finish. PR by 2 minutes. Missed goal time of two hours. Glutes got sore at mile 7 |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Put me down for 4000 yards swimming 170 miles on the bike 60 miles running. Not sure how this will play out. Thats not far from January's numbers I think, except for the bike, and that was skewed with the time trial race and more than normal training for that. |

Bike: 325 miles, giddyup! Run: 30 miles... assuming my joints cooperate. If not, I will hit the elliptical or aquajog to meet this goal. |

Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Hi everyone I've been out of the loop for a week or two... everyone I know is sick and passing on thier pesky germs but I'm slowly getting it together. My goals for this month are puny: Run 3x week Swim x 2 Bike x 2
BTW any of you UT folks... Are you familiar with the course for the Salt Lake Marathon? My bf is running it and I was going to join him for support but they are also opening up the course for people to ride before the marathon it so I was trying to get an idea of how hard it is on a bike, they have a cut off time.

Here's the course map (bike route in yellow): http://www.saltlakecitymarathon.com/fileadmin/SLC_pdf/07_All_Events_Map.JPG From the start, it goes downhill from Wasatch to Foothill. There are a few rolling hills from Foothill to 200E. The rest of the course is through the Salt Lake Valley, and is pretty flat all the way to the finish. EDIT: How much earlier before the race are you getting there? Altitude had a BIG effect on my performance. I know the start was only at about 4600 ft, but it had a big effect on a Minnesotan like me... Get there a few days early to get accustomed to the altitude if possible... Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Thanks Sal! We'd be arriving the day before, so not too much time to acclimate. I looked at the elevation chart and it seems to be mostly downhill... Site says must average 15mph to finish in 1:45. Here in viva I avg about 10-13mph (but every ride is uphill both ways) So I'm thinking it could be doable. Any memorable climbs? (there looks to be 2 or 3)

First hill was a blip with all the adrenaline at the start of the race. You'll feel the hill up to mile 10, it's LONG and gradual. The hill at mile 14 was a booger, just because it was mile 14. A few people walked that one. It didn't help that it was fairly warm the day I ran it... |

SL Marathon course is a great one! But you have to respect it. I ran the race with our beloved Sparky a couple years ago. He kicked my bricks!!! Don't let him fool you though! While there is much downhill, particularly in the first half of the course, there are a lot of false flats that will lead you into a false sense of security, particulrly as you move onto Murray Holliday Road and from Liberty Park to the finish line! Wonderful course and because of it's general "U" shape, its a great one for following your gf/bf/significant other, because you can move from view point to view point fairly easily. Enjoy the race! The bike ride has become VERY popular, and the race grows every year! |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed 5 mile run to vote 1 hour spin class 1000 yard swim. Gah I still huff and puff after 50 yards. Actually put my head down and kind of felt like I was swimming downhill. Legs seemed higher than normal. Actually tried to use some arm strength to pull from my rib cage area to my hip tonight. Felt like I was going faster. Couldnt find the lap counter/ lap timer ring so not sure about pace. |
