I think the dancing needs to take place to songs in their original form (i.e., a DJ playing) as opposed to a cover band.

Does anyone have a webcam so I can watch this all go down?

I agree. Not a whole lot you can do to Journey.

Maybe you should work on your skillz, cause I can think of 15 moves for Journey.  And Friday is on!!

gracetheterp - 2008-01-07 8:16 PM Sooo this thread has gotten rather out of control I was planning on doing this race, but I really didn't think it would fill up in 4 hours...so I decided to volunteer. Any chance I could still participate in the BT festivities? I'll save you the good oranges on the run...

you're talking about the cherry blossom, right?  Anyone is welcome to participate in the festivities, as long as they provide us with the yummiest oranges.

3558 - 2008-01-07 7:38 PM The Ned Devines in Sterling has two cover bands playing on Friday night. LiquidA and Kristen & the Noise. Both good, everything from Journey to Bryan Adams to Buck Cherry to Michael Jackson. Pick your poison. I think they have a DJ on Saturday. Same story with the one in Herndon. I'm sure there would be an opportunity for a dance off, in fact, with a band involved, there's a good chance we could get them to play a song JUST FOR the dance off.

Scott, as long as they don't cover Billy Joel all night, I'm good.

You seem to be making excuses.  The point of a dance-off is to not only prove your mad dance skillz, but to prove your ability to improvise and be flexible (figuratively, not literally) as well.  What fun is it for the rest of us if you come out with a choreographed routine to Billie Jean?

Billie Jean? Whoever gets to dance to this automatically gets my vote. I know it is funny but I LOVE this song, not that you have to dance to it of course, plus I can't picture a band actually getting it right.

I think we need to add "LCD" somewhere into the VAMDCBTDBDCCTTC, or whatever it is being called today.

Because everything we discuss inevitably ends up at the lowest common denominator.

"Another figurative use is as a rhetorical device in criticism of mass media. When a media outlet has been charged with appealing to the "lowest common denominator", it means they have targeted the lowest, meanest, crudest, most basic and perhaps prurient of all possible hopes and dreams of their intended audience. no silly.  something you use when you need to convert fractions to add or subtract.  even my 4th graders knew that, and they were public skooled.

Let me know if you need some fiddling tracks.  They're great to get the RPMs up.  I looked down on my ride the other day and I was at 125.  Oops.

It's Irish stuff.  Same tempo as Charlie Daniels' type stuff, but Irish.  Reels are best for trainer rides... they're faster than jigs.

If you want great trainer/tempo music check out Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Listened to the them on the bike this morning (one ear, low volume, on trail - I know stupid) and they really help keep the cadence high.

They do covers of pretty funny songs in a punk format like Over the Rainbow, Don't Cry for Me Argentina and Leavin' on a Jet Plane. Hilarious.
