I think the dancing needs to take place to songs in their original form (i.e., a DJ playing) as opposed to a cover band.

3558 - 2008-01-07 7:38 PM The Ned Devines in Sterling has two cover bands playing on Friday night. LiquidA and Kristen & the Noise. Both good, everything from Journey to Bryan Adams to Buck Cherry to Michael Jackson. Pick your poison. I think they have a DJ on Saturday. Same story with the one in Herndon. I'm sure there would be an opportunity for a dance off, in fact, with a band involved, there's a good chance we could get them to play a song JUST FOR the dance off.

You seem to be making excuses. The point of a dance-off is to not only prove your mad dance skillz, but to prove your ability to improvise and be flexible (figuratively, not literally) as well. What fun is it for the rest of us if you come out with a choreographed routine to Billie Jean?

Billie Jean? Whoever gets to dance to this automatically gets my vote. I know it is funny but I LOVE this song, not that you have to dance to it of course, plus I can't picture a band actually getting it right.

It's Irish stuff.  Same tempo as Charlie Daniels' type stuff, but Irish.  Reels are best for trainer rides... they're faster than jigs.
