Mama bear story...

Saturday DH, DS1 and I were at a church function that we do every month. DH and DS1 work on cars and I help do "service writing". A woman we'll call Cindy was working on the same crew with my guys but from what I understand she's on that crew so the "manager" can keep an eye on her work. Anyhoo, Cindy sees the 10k oval sticker on DS1's truck (which I bought for him after Bolder Boulder) and tells him that it's embarrasing to have that on there and he should have anything less than a HM.

Of course I didn't find out until later when we were home. He handled it well and talked about BolderBoulder and the fact that I'm doing Rock N Roll. Not sure that I'd have been as polite. 1) I hate it when runners/cyclists belittle other's accomplishments and  2) the mama bear factor. I told DS1 I'd have told her that 13.1 is my cool down. Grrrrrrrr.

What a beeeooooch. She should just be embarrassed that she's a B****. I'd tell her that.

Right? I just can't understand that mentality. I try so hard to encourage people into being active that discounting someone's accomplishment boggles my mind.

You can tell her to come on up to Seattle and I will race her in a 10K, since it's so easy I'm sure she'd be glad to do it.

I like it. Oh, and I guess when she first got there she made a general announcement to anyone who would listen that she might stink because she'd been running that morning. Um yeah, 1) shower 2) sounds like she just wants to brag about running.

http://www.jest.com/video/169131/nike-talk-about-running-watch

That was completely AWESOME!

It reminded me of this one.  Love me some Yuri

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quwhg8_3N2s

Salty, you know why this resonates with me

Ah schnap, you ARE Yuri! THE CHAMPION Smile I'll remember that for life.

I'm not quite as bad as Yuri, but, damn, I have the tendencies.

The first step is admitting the problem

Well, I could use a little of that competitive nature. There's gotta be a happy medium somewhere, eh?

I'd like to program my Garmin to say "Salty disapproves" when I go outta Z2.  Fo real.

Hahaha totally.

Except wait, even the whole "Z" thing is out of my vocabulary Smile

Ahhh, you said it 'zee' dincha?  It's zed dammit, zed!

Going to try to break the mega quote.

But the being able to program your Garmin to scold/motivate you--million dollar idea;)

When I got my Nike pod thingy, and Lance Armstrong or Paula Radcliffe would come on and tell me about my "great" run, it was really addicting.

I'm pathetic.  I long for the cookie.

Kirsten, BTW, I got to see Christine Sinclair play. Wow! Hellof a player right there! Very cool.

I know, right!  Man she was a one woman show at the Olympics.  Seems to always have time for fans too.  Sorry to hear about you and Hope though, she sure is purty.

I'll manage- someway, somehow. Smile

So we'll set yours with positive touchy-feely reinforcement... "Salty thinks you could catch that nice lady in front of you"...

Mine could be something like "Salty says if you don't get the lead out nobeerforyou"

Yeah, I mean, I'm pretty white so things like "cray-cray" don't always roll off the tongue quite right, but I'm sure I could muster up something along those lines.

I'm gonna GoPro my stroke someday soon and it would be awesome to record Yanti's critique, if she'd be willing.  No joke, I would plug it right into strategic places on my play list (and hellz, yes, I listen to music when I swim).

We went to The Spotted Dog in Springdale for dinner Sat night. Fantastic food! My son said it's the best meatballs he's ever had in his life (lol). I ordered salmon on a parmesan and wild mushroom risotto...and it is still making my mouth water!

We saw bison, bighorn sheep, deer, lizards, frogs, fish, chipmunks while we were out and about. As we were leaving, we stopped at the nature center which was VERY kid friendly.

Erin, this sounds like such an awesome trip.  Very, very cool that you guys did this and did it spontaneously.  Lucky kids you've got there

Thanks! So awesome Laughing

But after being there, I'm trying to get motivated to be back in gym or on trainer. Ummmm...not easy. LOL

Matthew Bellamy has the most beautiful voice. He sounds a little like someone but I can't put my finger on it (not Thom Yorke ...)
