Breastroke, who does it?  I learned the fundamentals tonight.  I can see where it would be useful, but good lord, arms and legs are going everywhere!  Also learned back....seems a lot simpler, but a lot less useful in OWS.

Also finalized my remaining '09 and '10 race calendar....no racing for me until mid November to rehab to leg.  Then it is full steam ahead!

Make it a good weekend...

I have read some questions here and on ST about learning other strokes.  Good to relieve the boredom of swimming laps, plus good for working other muscles.

I can barely keep from drowning while doing freestyle.
I get super dizzy after 25m of backstroke.
And I'd like to drown every breaststroker that I come upon in a race as they flail their way through the water kicking me in the head and ribs.

So no other strokes for me!  Laughing

I'm with you and Suzy 100% on the breast stroke. The only time I have been kicked really hard was by someone doing the BS. I can do it but it seems to take up so much more energy. Maybe I just fail around too much.

Take care of that leg Suzy. It's probably going to drive you nuts not being able to run for a month. I haven't made it to the doctor yet to see about mine. Just can't seem to find the time right now. Busy at work again and travel is killing a lot of my free time.

It rained yesterday and I drove to Toronto after a funeral. It took me 2 1/2 hours to get home. Normally at the time of day it should have taken about an hour. I was going to work out but by the time I got home I was ready to kill someone. Stupid slow drivers. Maybe some of them were working on their breast stroke

Today my workout consists of cleaning the house. (just call me Mr Mom  Wife's working and we have out grandson's baptism and then we are hosting Thanksgiving for the family, about 18/20 people. Should be busy but great time. I guess I should get back to work. Have a great weekend everyone.

Are we still getting a virtual going?

For those of you in the South...here is a taste of what it is like in Northern Wisconsin today.  The man is up there as the landscapers madly try to finish our project, the new porch is done, but the new deck which has yet to start.

Kona watching starts soon......

PS Rob, I can still run, not race for a month!  I would die if I had to stow away my shoes for 30 days....

Sitting on the couch watching VT whoop up on BC and have the laptop here also watching Kona.  I really like this live coverage, much better than the NBC edited version.

Pretty amazing to see the double amputee get out of the water in a bit over an hour then get on his bike.  I figured he was on a hand cycle but he has a special set of legs that attach to the pedals and was on a regular bike.  Not sure how that works with no quads, or hamstrings, guess he uses his glutes?  Amazing.

Could you feel that?  I was practically screaming for that guy to get out of the water!  Then the guy who came out 4 seconds too late and just cried on the stairs...

Breaststroke is soooo hard.  I do it when my plan calls for a 50 during warm up or cool down and then when I switch back to freestyle, it feels absolutely effortless!    That is a good feeling for me to have, because it is so rare!

Did my 7 mile race pace run today on a different course due to the President's Cup that is being played at the golf course where I do my lake run.  Much more rolling and challenging today, but I somehow managed to hit my splits even after having a few glasses of wine last night.  Boy was it a lot harder!  That, and 4 1/2 hours of sleep make for a pretty tough tempo like work out.  Tonite, early to bed and lots of water before tomorrow's long run.

Have a great weekend all!

Catching up on Kona here too.

Wife just finished The Ragnar Relay here in Vegas .  171 miles for the 12 girls on her team.  They did well but a runner from another team was killed right by our house at 3:30 am last night.  Rumor was a drunk driver.  Heart goes out to his family, be careful out there!!!
