courtney_leone - 2005-06-30 11:18 PM I think I take the cake when it comes to "Most Unoriginal Screen Name." Hey, shouldn't I get a prize or something?

We can be Mr. & Miss Unimaginative

Hey, can this be a three way?

I have a very obvious name. Curacao is the island I was born on. I have traveled the world and still always managed to get back to the island for a vistit, now we(me and the missus) are back living on it and loving it.

We named our dog "olive view"...souded liked "I love you".  What can I say, we got her a week after our honeymoon.  Of course now 3 children, another dog, and almost 9 years later...actually, I still like it!

Scuba - 'cause I scuba dive (see avatar - that's me floating over a 1500' underwater ledge off Mona Island, Puerto Rico, but I was only 70 feet deep)
Punk - 'cause I used to be a kick-arse guitar player and "punk" is a better suffix for a nickname than "speedmetal" Besides, who doesn't love Bad Religion or the Misfits?

All my dive buddies call me Gus or Reverend Fluffy, but those are stories for another time...

My first name means "sky blue" in Italian and Spanish, and I'm definitely a city girl. (Don't you give me no suburbs!)

Hence, CitySky, here and on a coupla other boards.

"PirateGirl" is a shortened version of "Stoobie the Pirate Girl", which I got as a joke from friends after an evening of watching the Treasure Island video (from the hotel in Vegas).  The first forum I ever joined was MountainBikeReview.com, and there were too many people there with names that started with "S".  So I chose PirateGirl.  Been PirateGirl ever since, except on motorcycle sites where I'm MZGirl.

I've always had the naked blue PirateGirl avatar, and that sticker is on all of my bikes.

My screen name.... pretty obvious.... and while I'm still definitely a beginner triathlete (having only a couple of races under my belt), I'm not so fond of the screen name anymore. Problem is, I could join Tim, Tania and Courtney in their Unimaginative Family.... so, since I can't think of anything better for the time being, StartingToTri I remain.

I'm a nurse in an ER in Seattle. We get a HUGE # of drunk people and people who, let's just say aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. One night while restraining this out of control dude on alcohol, meth, and pcp it hit me. I'm "lifeguarding the shallow end of the gene pool". Hence erlifeguard. Don't get me wrong I enjoy my job and the majority of the patients we seen are nice grateful people. But being the biggest guy in the Dept I've become the pseudo bouncer/restraint guy/bad situation diffuser. It's fun most of the time!! Except for times like this weekend, holiday weekend, first weekend of the month-everybody got paid, the alcohol and drugs will be flowing mix in the fireworks and it will be a busy next few nights. Have a great 4th everyone!!!! Chris

During the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles I was very much influenced by Rowdy Gaines. He swam and was a sprinter. I swam and was a sprinter to. His work ethic in the pool left a lasting impression on me.

I have been called "Doc" by coaches and athletes since working as a certified athletic trainer in the Kansas City School district.

But, I acquired this version from the people I consult with in track and field because I'm getting my PhD in Exercise Science and my dissertation is a technique analysis of the hammer throw. So, I guess it fits.

I had been into diving for about 5 years and was trying to become a rescue diver so that I could do some volunteer work. I finally got it right abot the time I started using email regularly.  It just happenned that I became a rescue diver, became a search & recovery diver for the Sheriff's department, dive/medic for an offshore rescue all at the same time...so it just seemed to work.  I'm now well above a rescue diver in certs but email addresses are like phone numbers, once people remember what yours is you hate to change it.  I've had it so long (6 years) it doesn't really make sense to change.

Very boring:

I'm from NY, I do triathlons, and I'm female, hence I'm NYtrigal.  I use that on 3 triathlon boards.  So if you ever wander over to slowtwitch or trinewbies you'll see me post there with thsi name.
