sure you can!  dont let the hill in the chart scare you.....keep your eyes on the vertical scale....for the sprint, 150 foot climb is shouldnt be too bad....the chart makes it look pretty intimidating, however

kmbhoya2000 - 2009-04-15 4:31 PM I know this is a rules issue, but if you are having problems on the hill, can you walk to the top?  I'm sorry I sound like a wimp, but I haven't done much biking on hills yet - which I def plan on doing before then...Thanks
Yes...USA Triathlon rule 5.2 Forward Progress. Participants shall not make any forward progress unaccompanied by their bicycle. If a bicycle is rendered inoperable, a participant may proceed on the cycling course, running or walking, while pushing or carrying the bicycle, so long as the bicycle is pushed or carried in a manner not to obstruct or impede the progress of other participants. Any violation of this section shall result in disqualification.

The sprint course looks like maybe 400 feet total climbing over 13 miles.  Thats not a large amount of climb.  Not sure about the steepness for what climb there is, but the overall amount is not large relative to many courses.

I made a mapmyride of the Olympic bike leg. Looks pretty easy with one real climb that should be a fun challenge!

To update my previous post, it looks like my friend and I will be heading to Keuka the weekend of May 16-17. We may or may not be staying overnight on Saturday. We are still playing around with some ideas but once the details are figured out I can pass them along.

top 10% in your AG for sprint, rounded up.  if there are 15 people in your AG, and you finish 2, you qualify for AG Nationals.  3 and your beat.  AG needs to be at 25 people to qualify top 3.

If you do the olympic, top 5 or 33% qualify, whichever is greater.

not 100% confident this is how it works, but pretty sure.

EDIT: I should add you can qualify for AG Nationals in any USAT sanctioned event, top 10% rules apply.

only thing differnet about Keuka is that it is a Regianl championship race, and the Olympic distance race will qualify top 33% or top 5.  this is true for all reginal championship races.

Let us know how the water temp is.

the event website currently shows the water at 57 degrees. This is measured at twenty feet, so it could well be a couple of clicks higher at the surface. Pretty chilly in any case.

I'll be swimming with ear plugs and a neoprene cap for sure.

Skyline wasn't to bad in my opinion.  54A is pretty nasty right now though, I sure hope they clean off the shoulder for us before the race.

I didn't get into the water today, but I will be in there tomorrow and I will let you know how it feels.

Hey Guys,

Water was def chilly but not unbearable.  I had on a sleeveless zoot suit and my body was fine once I got going.  However, my head was freezing, I am going to pick up a full swim cap this week.  I would advise the same for anyone else if they are worried about the temp.  The lake is said to be at 57 and will probably get up to around 62'ish maybe if we get some warm weather.  That will still be a little chilly at the onset.

Anyways all in all it was a good first dip in the lake..i can't believe when I was "younger" im 23..that I was in the lake on the first of May...what was I thinking!

haha
