My trick is always to wear a bathing suit under my clothes to the pool ... but then totally forget a bra and underwear.

One time I showed up at my friend's birthday dinner in a white T-shirt sans bra (I don't think anyone noticed the no underwear, though). Nobody seemed to mind

My 'forgetful moment' started a chain of comical errors. My first Tri was looming and, like all good triathletes I laid out my gear the night before. I doubled up on just about everything - goggles, earplugs, sunscreen, towells, shoes, etc

I got to the race and I was taking my bike to transition. "Where's your helmet mister?". WTF!?! I had forgotten my helmet. I went to the race director and told him of my stupidity and he directed me to the "Spares" area. I managed, after much waiting and searching, to locate a very ordinary helmet. Secured to my cranium I raced over to transition to rack my bike and setup in the remaining few minutes before transition closed.

I am now completely frazzled and in need of a 'natural break'. Lining up for the port-potty I stepped on a bee and got stung. I managed to remove the sting but in the process lost my place in line. Re positioning myself I hear the call for my age group. What!?! I have more time, don't I? NO, I do not. I race over to the marshalling area and threw my bag at them and ran to the start line (deep water start) realising that I am in my undies and not any tri short, bathers or other 'appropriate' attire - without goggles or swim cap. Swim went horribly, ride was the most uncomfortable ride ever and the run caused more chaffing than ever. But the looks I got coming down the finishing straight were priceless. I did manage to return the helmet and I've never forgotton the thing again!

There is no teacher like experience!

Rode to work with my work shirt in bag, I leave a suit at work, went to get changed and had no black socks so I wore a full suit with black shoes and white socks!

I'm wearing a suit today at work. I took it with me this morning to put on post swim. But, I FORGOT DRESS SOCKS.

I'm sitting here wearing dress shoes, black Livestrong socks, and a suit. I doubt anyone will notice, but it's still funny.

At least the socks are comfortable!

I wear DeFeet socks with my dress shoes about 90% of the time.  People do notice when you have your blue sperm socks on or your plumbers crack socks, but I find them more comfortable and really that is what matters.

It is funny to read all the stories you guys have shared.

I know longer work but when I did, I forgot my shoes to workout in once and went in my socks and did weight training. After forgetting socks, undies, and all that I keep extras with me in my bag and always reload after using them.

Once I forgot something and after my swim took my shower but realized I needed to put on my wet swimsuit on again to go home so I wiggled in.

I'm picked up my kids from soccer practice and school in my swimsuit so I could save the 10' it takes to shower and change and finish my workout.

I think some of you would do well to have a back up bag in your car with socks, undies, goggles, swim suit, towel, dress socks for oops I forgot days.

I was on my way to doing this this morning.  A block away from home I recalled this thread and stopped to check my bag.  Nope, no undies.  Turned around and amazingly didn't just stay home

I typically will run or ride during my lunch break at work (we also have a nice locker room with showers, etc). Couple weeks ago I brought in my bike, my bike shorts, my bike jersey, my helmet...  and my running shoes. Oops.  Couldn't bike in my running shoes, couldn't run in my bike shorts. Instead I got dressed back in work clothes and ran errands.

Yesterday was supposed to be a run & swim day after work.  Only  when I got to the rec center, discovered I had no shirt to run in, and as luck would have it we had an August day too cool to go shirtless!  So it became a long swim day instead...

I forgot my bike shorts on a mountain bike ride a few years back. I rode in only my boxer underwear. BAAAAAD idea. I can't imagine what people thought seeing a guy sweating and breathing hard coming out of the woods in his underwear.

Had to add tonight's contribution, even though it was only a near-miss...

I rode in for a meeting in the middle of the day today. It was a super short ride, so I decided I would do my real commute tonight. Fortunately, I remembered BEFORE getting my bike all ready to go and heading out that I had no "normal" clothes at work! I'd taken them home to switch them out and hadn't brought more in. It would have been a very cold night in sweaty bike shorts and shirt in AC!
