Subject: RE: What book(s) are you reading now?- 2005-08-25 8:54 AM Hey Caddreamer.. I know you liked hitchhikers guide, so I think you would like a book called "good omens" By terry pratchet and Neil Gaimen.. It's a hard book to find, but it's well worth it. I laughed out loud so hard reading it. Same kind of humour as Hitchhikers. Thanks for the recommendation - it's hard for me to find books with that crazy humor. As far as HHG sequels, I've read them all. If you want something totally hilarious, try anything by Patrick F. McManus. He writes about hunting and fishing, outdoors type things mainly, and they are laugh out loud funny. His cast of characters, including one individual by the name of Retch Sweeney, are priceless. Another one who makes me laugh, juvenile fiction, Hank the Cowdog author, John R. Erickson. He tells these stories about Hank from Hank's point of view. "As Head of Ranch Security I had to always be on my toes..." they are even better as books on tape, because the author reads them. On the more English Humor side, PG Wodehouse is so worth it. He took me a little bit to get into but man, his descriptions of golf and completely clueless people who nevertheless save the day are great. |
