I think "damsel in distress" method works for me. Like asking a guy to help pump up my tires becuase my valve is a little bent. I've done that on my group rides before. Actually I had asked a guy to pump on my tires before a group ride because I didn't want to- I was feeling lazy and didn't want my hands to get dirty. I wasn't trying to hit on him- really. I don't mind getting sweatty or dirty, but it was early in the morning and I just didn't feel like doing it. Without hesitation this one guy offered to pump up my tires. Funny thing was that the valve on my back tire was slightly bent and he was having problems pumping up. To make a long story short, it took him abnout 10 minutes to pump up that tire because he got all nervous and ended up letting all the air out because he couldn't get the pump to stay on the valve. He gave me flat tire!! I was trying not to laugh, but he kept blaming it on thae bike pump, then my bent valve, then saying that my valves were too short and needed to be longer, etc. Poor guy. We tease him about it all the time now. |

Of course, it would have to be a newbie gentleman who has had some other sport experiences and a sports body (a diamond in the rough). Your girl doesn't have to be a triathlete to be attractive you know. |

He might do that. He was there this year for my finish and was pretty excited with the atmosphere. I give him credit, he drove up the day before, crashed on my hotel room floor, got up with me the next morning and hung around at the race all day until I finished at 10 PM, helped me get my gear back to the hotel afterwards....then drove 3-1/2 hrs home! I'm sure I could convince him to volunteer at next years race! |

He's peeling off his wetsuit, all dripping and tanned and muscley, mongrel dog running around...sigh...so I give him a big old smile, ask him how the surf was. He was super receptive, but, gol dangit! I just never know what to do next. Why is it I then expect HIM to say something like, hey, wanna go get some coffee? Is it that I've watched too much Sex and the City? I was sweaty, he was wet and I did think - maybe I should ask him if he wants to make out? He had a van right there and everything!! lol |
