New to the sport and wondering what type of weather did yall have last year? What type of riding gear should I bring?

Sunny and warm.

Ah, but it's TX...it snowed on Easter in central TX...there is no predicting the weather for this one save a couple of days out! Sunny and warm would be awesome though!

....but it's TX.  I'd bet sunny and warm before snow flurries.

Yes, I would say that's probably a safe bet!

Well, 12 pounds gone...some small changes in eating, and tri-training seems to be working well. Making better choices eating and exercise...who'd a thunk it?!!

I would also suggest to spend maybe 15 minutes or so just practicing transitions.  I didn't do this before my first, and I wish I did because they took forever.  And I kept freakin' out because I thought I was forgetting something.  So practice will probably help ease your mind heading into the race.

I practiced transitions...one thing you miss in the practice is that in your garage....or whever you are...there are not hundreds of other bikes...just have a good idea where your bike rack is in reference to transition enter points from the pool and the bike...I made one big wasted loop from the bike to run "looking" for my rack in  my first triathlon.  Then again, I could be only person that has made that mistake.

Cool.  I usually start between 4:30 and 5:00 in the morning on Mondays and Wednesdays.  It's a good gym for a good cost.  No excessive frills.  Just the necessities you need to get your workout done.

One of the ladies I work with said her husband had an old trainer for his bike...She called him...He's giving it to me...I don't know anything about it, but I think that it was really cool of him to do that...He's knows I'm trying to get started and wants to help me out...How blessed am I?

I was wondering, what is a good goal to set as far as a finishing time for a first timer?

Not too far away.  Tri-season is almost here!

Gina (grvfrog) and I will be getting a hotel room with 2 queens.  If anybody is interested in the other bed, let me know.

Anyone still want to try to do dinner on Friday night? Or has anyone heard about the pasta dinner that apparently has happened in the past?  I've got that Friday off and will be headed that way in the afternoon.  I can't scout anything out really, but am willing to show up at some place for dinner early to help get tables or whatever together.
