Sadly, the running on crutches thing never crossed my mind - I was only thinking of the beer....

And, I am afraid that Pam would be able to pass me on the 1/6 run WITH her crutches.... Yes, I am that slow.

pjgrande - 2008-09-21 8:58 PM can I do it on crutches??

Are you asking about running the race?

I was wondering the same thing....

I got this weird twist to "Green Eggs and Ham" in my mind right now -

I can do it over here.
I can do it over there.
I can do it by my house.
I can do it with my spouse.

RUN, that is!

Suuuuuuuuuuure...

Is that the snappiest comeback ya got? Sheesh.

Well, I think the drinking beer part could be done on crutches.

I'm thinking the crowd would get a little sympathetic and make a special handicapped line just for her, and then the rest of the Donks would follow behind her and get speedier beer servage!

I think I'll sign up too.  Deanna, I could drive this time.

Anna

P.S.  Are they always this goofy or is this an end of the season thing?  Does it have something to do with the beer?

They don't, really. Last year I just jockstrapped for this one and there was goofiness happening way before the beer started flowing. I hear things got really crazy after I left, though.

I've got an itch to do this one suddenly.  Haven't done a half since my first in 2007.  Just finished up Whistlestop and am already hungry for more!!!!

I didn't sign up for the race.  My coach was questioning whether running the race was worth it.  Soooooooo, I won't be running it.

HOWEVER, I believe I'll join Craig and drink some up and root ya Donks on.  Sound good?

After my horrible performance at the Chicago Marathon I signed up for this event as a means to redeem myself and clear the negative thoughts out of my head. Hoping to take out my frustration on the course that day and clear 1:35

Woo-hoo!  I'm now signed up for my first half after crossing my threshold earlier this week!  I am very excited as I have been able to increase my distance without breaks, continue to run higher mileage base runs, and generally feel good after each run. (Yes, I've learned to follow a plan...sort of.)  Can't wait to use the mantra..."beer at the end, beer at the end..."

I've gone 1:39 and 1:38 this year, so this would involve going quite a bit deeper in the pain cave, but like I said, I have a bit of a chip on my shoulder. Finished Chicago in 4:50. That was about 1:20 slower than my goal and about 1:35 away from my stretch goal of qualifying for Boston. A seemingly minor mis-step about 5-6 miles into the race eventually did me in for the day. I feel better now and need to go out and burn up some negative energy.

Well, I thought I was in for walking the 1/6, and then I realized that it's 4.7 miles - not the "close to a 5k" that I thought it was. (Yes, I suck at math.) So, now I'm thinking on it some more. I think I can walk that far without doing any damage to the foot....
