Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: December's "Get Your A$$ On The Trainer" challenge! I agree Max is awesome. We are lucky here in MA as we see him in person and he has helped and encouraged so many of us. He taught me how to change a tube super fast! I'm in....I need to ride lots in December. I'm planning on doing a 12 or 24 hour bike race mid February in FL and need some time riding and hopefully some longer rides. It has been recommended I try to get in a 12 hour ride before the race....12 hours on the trainer? Doesn't sound to appealing. |

Now, I hope this works......

Hey I'm easy....everything counts! 5 minutes sounds good to me. And who knows, sometimes once you get on for 5 minutes, you ride for 20 or 30. They say that the hardest part of doing exercise is getting started. That's why I figured on putting in the bonus!

Champion 5312 Calgary | Subject: RE: December's "Get Your A$$ On The Trainer" challenge! I cannot believe I am excited about riding on the trainer. It is going to be a great December. While I am motivated by Max's original goals, I am going to put some additional goals out there for myself. 1. Ride every day for at least 5 minutes (and I will say this, if only to keep myself motivated on this goal), when I read 5 minutes minimum I rolled my eyes, what type of challenge is that? There I said it, so if I don't do 5 minutes minimum a day for 31 days in December I shall feel great shame. 2. 10 1/2 hours on the bike in December (which will likely all be on the trainer). Now I know this is probably poor for someone planning on having a breakthrough half in August but my history on the trainer last year was HORRIBLE. Frankly, if I do not get at least 10 1/2 hours in on the bike I will feel like a cheat for taking any bonus points whatsoever. I rode 40+ hours in August, so I know I can do it. So, there I said that too. Here is to a great December. |

Champion 8903 | Subject: RE: December's "Get Your A$$ On The Trainer" challenge! Spokes - 2008-11-28 8:44 PM Max - I have been having left knee issues on the bike and run. I'm supposed to do my first PT on Monday, the 1st... I've been riding with some stiffness/soreness, but if the PT says its OK for me to ride this month, can I still get in on the challenge? Sure! This is cool, the more we have, the better! Take it easy on the trainer, but maybe a little bit each day will work you back into it. I'll put you on the list.

Champion 8903 | Subject: RE: December's "Get Your A$$ On The Trainer" challenge! carrie1 - 2008-11-30 6:05 AM Ok, so how do we log our info? I'm looking forward to starting the challenge tomorrow! Good question! You can do it several ways. The best is probably to simply keep track of the minutes you ride each day and record it in your daily BT log, the same way you did for the 45 minutes you rode yesterday. What I'll do is visit each log every day and take the minutes, put them on the spread sheet, and post the sheet each day with the running total. You can also send me a message with your daily total if you want or you could post the total here, but putting it on your own training log is the easiest for me, as I won't have to search through pages of posts here to find it. Still, I encourage everyone to check in here anyway and brag/commiserate about how we're all doing...it'll be good motivation to get on the bike and ride! As far as the weight loss part of it, I'm not going to make a big deal and post actual weight numbers of everyone. What I'd do is weigh yourself tomorrow morning, keep a mental note of it, and then each Monday do another weigh-in. I'll check with everyone on Mondays and see how many pounds you're up or down and just put that figure in the spreadsheet for the bonus! I can't wait to get started either...I've been off the bike for a while and I need to peel off about 10 lbs bye the end of the year!

Sure thing, will do it right away!! Can you make sure your log is open so if I put it on the spreadsheet as a link that it will direct everyone to it? Right now when I click on your log under your post, it takes me to the BT home page instead. Just make sure your log settings are set to allow public access! If you'd rather not do that, I understand...you'll just have to message me each day or post your hourly riding totals here instead.
