Wow- What a great crew this year!!

Name: Jaclyn
Tri History: 3rd tri season: 2 olympics; lots of sprints. I've also run a ton of half-marathons and did the Detroit Marathon as my one and only in 2006.

Tri Goals for 2009: Do at least one sprint (comeback from pregnancy & labor & becoming a mommy!).  Ride lots this fall.  Detroit FP Half Marathon or Indianapolis Monument 1/2 Mary in November (Undecided).

Age group: 30-35

Personal: I'm having a baby in the end of June!  That pretty much sums up my life right now.   Half excited, half terrified, 100% NOT READY.  I've been married to a fellow runner (but non-triathlete) for over 2 years and have done much jockstrapping for his recent string of marathons.  We are psyched about our new Jogging Stroller!  Oh, and I'm a member of the rockin' RACING GREYHOUNDS for the 2nd year.  I also work at a high school managing a non-profit tutoring/mentoring program.  I'm a wannabe Social Studies teacher when the 'ole economy turns around...  Other random info: I lived in Japan for almost 5 years (hence the name) and also care for/run with/yell at a crazy mixed Terrier shelter mutt named Mika.

Area: Farmington.

Tri Goals for 2009:  I am currently planning 4 sprint tris though I haven't signed up for any of them yet.  My main goal is to not suck, we all gotta have dreams.

Personal-Married for 15 years with a ten year old girl and 7 year old boy.  I work as a fire protection engineer for an insurance company.  I actually live in a triathlon wonderland, that is for the few months of the year when its not snowing or just too cold.  I live on a 180 acre lake and am surrounded by numerous country roads which are great for biking and running.  Tri del Sol is held on the lake I live on.

Tri History: None yet...

Tri Goals for 2009: Complete 1 sprint tri either Clarkston (Craig Greenfield) or Island Lake not sure which one yet.

Age group: 35

Personal: Married 10 years this October with 5 year old and 7 week old little boys. I got into mountain biking after high school and raced (beginner class) for a few years in my early 20s. Started running back in 99, have done a few 5, 8, and 10k races, and I also like to hit the gym. I have done the MS150 for the last few years and finally broke down and bought a road bike last year. Not doing the MS ride this year so my big training goal is going to be a tri. I kind of have exercise ADD so I thought that a tri would be fun to try. Finally, I will be graduating from Lawrence Tech in about 3 weeks an engineering degree.

Hi Jason, Jamie...
Welcome to BT-MI.  I'm new, too.  My first will be Hawk Island (heard it's a good first triathlon).

You'll find there are a lot of people here with diverse backgrounds and skill levels, and it is very common to find that someone is organizing a group training session somewhere in the area (SE Michigan).  This is a fun group, and don't be shy

Tri History: This is season #1!  I have always loved all 3 disciplines, but have never seriously combined them.  I look forward to getting to know as many of you as possible!

Tri Goals for 2009:  Knock out as many Triathlons as possible without injury…  I am on good pace for Olympic distance in June, but planning a few Sprints late Spring/early Summer to “get my feet wet” and would like to do a HIM at the end of the summer.

My wife and daughter live in Traverse City during the summer and my family has a place in Harbor Springs, so I plan to do a fair amount of northern MI events.

Age group: 30-34 M

Personal:  Married with one 21-month daughter, who has extremely high energy.  I am blamed for this daily...  Our dog Koda (Goldendoodle) is also “spirited” and seems to get in trouble often.

Occupation: Banking (10 years / Not that cool at the moment)

Interests - too many: Working out, Boxing/Mixed Martial Arts, Skiing, Golf, Squash, Hunting, Windsurfing, Scuba Diving, and Chess/Checkers (kidding)

Area:  Royal Oak (close to downtown);  I workout at the Detroit Athletic Club and get outside as much as MI will allow...

Jeez, how did I miss this for so many days?

Name: Kim

History: I was a swimmer from jr high thru college, then quit because I liked beer and boys better than pools. I started running after college because it was free and I didn't have money for a gym. 12 marathons later someone convinced me to enter this tiny little local tri. I borrowed a bike that didn't work, a wetsuit that was too big and came in last. I immediately bought a bike. Three years later I finished IMFL and am now working on being a faster and happier bike (I still only tolerate biking!)

Tri Goals for 2009: HIMs in June, July and maybe Sept, bunch of short stuff, mostly PR at HIM distance, mostly in WNY rather than MI

Age group: 35-39

Personal: divorced-but-attached with no pets and a half constructed house in another state

Occupation: education administration

Area: Grosse Pointe, but I'm from WNY and live there in the summer

Hey Blake, we just got my daughter a Goldendoddle two weeks ago.  So far he's a puppy, do they make good running partners?

Yes! They are really high energy and extremely fast.  I generally strap on rollerblades to give him the run that he really needs.  Exercising him will be crucial for your sanity.  I can promise that you will want to give him away to your neighbors more than once, but age and working with him will eventually pay off!  Good luck!
