Master 1467 Small Town | Subject: RE: Hawk Island Triathlon : Official Thread No dogs are allowed in the bike. There is a dog park in the far back of Hawk Island, back there it is all fenced in and leashes are optional. However, no dogs (leash or not) allowed in the park. I tried. You cannot even walk your dog from the front of the park back to the dog park. Just FYI. But the dog park is very nice, large area too. |

Rumor is that the BT group is going to loiter at the Racing Greyhounds tent Sunday morning Craig. Stop by, It'll be nice to meet you. Where will the tent be set up? Will it be obvious? Not sure where the tent will be, but it will be obvious. Just look for a whole bunch of people gathered around in either the team kit or the team podium tee (dark brown/yellow) (jersey_web_09.jpg) (podium.jpg) Attachments ---------------- jersey_web_09.jpg (87KB - 22 downloads) podium.jpg (2KB - 17 downloads) |

Jeremy's right, you can't walk a dog from the front of the park to the back, but... (from the park's website) The Soldan Dog Park is located just north of Hawk Island County Park in Scott Woods Park (a City of Lansing park). The dog park's main entrance is through Hawk Island County Park. You may also access the park from the west off the River Trail in Scott Woods. Drive to the very north end of Hawk Island parking area, and then walk a short distance (with your dog(s) on-leash), past the Hawk Island Maintenance Building, to the main entrance of the Soldan Dog Park. |

New user 25 Farmington Hills, MI | Subject: RE: Hawk Island Triathlon : Official Thread Hi all, haven't visited BT in quite a while. I'm new to this whole tri thing. HI is my first, and my training got derailed a few months ago. I've picked it up over the last month, so hopefully I won't drop dead out there; I'll just bring up the rear! But, I'm excited and looking forward to starting this new adventure! Hope to meet some of you, dawn |

Extreme Veteran 446 Mason | Subject: RE: Hawk Island Triathlon : Official Thread FYI I spoke with Kathie the race coordinator this morning. There was a deluge of water in Lansing on Wednesday evening and the plan is to change the run course since part of it is under water (the turnaround at Scott Woods Park by the hospital). New plan is an out and back. Same start as before following the loop around the water, but turning Left (toward the old Scott Woods Park turnaround) and then following the brand new section of trail N. toward Mt. Hope road. I have the new route plotted and we'll try to get it posted on the Hawk Island Tri site today. The new section of trail is very pretty and goes adjacent to the Sycamore golf course (which is partially submerged, but the trail is dry.) Once it's official you should get an email from Kathie. At the very least I'll post here. I like the change because there's much less thought involved, just the 1 turnaround. We're still looking for Saturday volunteers 10am-7pm (4-7 is packet pickup) and race day volunteers. |

Can Canadians come and play too? My wife Robin is doing her first tri and my second. We are from Windsor, ON and have family in Lansing. Have a great race everyone. Any guess on when they will be closing the transition area? Is there a typical time before a race that they close it? Tim |

I do not want to get there at 6:00am, but i do not want to get shut out of the transition area before I get things set up. spartn1- Make sure you pick up your gatorade at Fairview Corners in Mason. FYI the bikes get packed in pretty tight so arriving a little early is helpful. I'm going to try to be there at 7 or so. |

Yep, nice pavement and still dry although a close encounter with the water is still possible if it rains Saturday night. My guess is it'll be nice and dry. |
