I'm with you Dee.  I have no idea how many I've had.  This is EXACTLY why I end up throwing away the kids candy.  Because I have NO willpower.  Poor kids have to suffer.

That's good for kids....  teaches them to handle dissappointment later in life...

LOL... Better tell your kids to start saving now for the therapy sessions they'll need later.

MDHillSlug - 2009-11-01 2:34 PM I'm working on a team roster; you can see the prototype on my log page

Me likey....  question though - how do you get two columns on your log page at the top?  Can't quite figure that one out...

You just have one TR (table row), and two TDs within it:

stuff goes here.... 2nd col goes here

Or, to make it really fancy:

Stuff goes here....

Stuff goes here....

Hit the "quote" button to view the HTML that I used....

Love the name Cold Turkeys!

Had a great ride today in the sunshine -- weird riding in shirtsleeves when there's still lots of snow on the ground.  Really nice that they plow the bike trails.

Thanks for doing the team roster thingy -- I'm going to copy and paste now, then go to bed & it's only 7:30 -- weird but I'll start the week rested

I feel ya.  At work this weekend it was

Friday: candy
Saturday: more candy
Sunday: even more candy AND doughnuts

I think half my calories this weekend were in the form of sugar.

I'm attaching the roster as an rtf file but you can expect there to be new additions to the roster over the next few days.

To top it off,  tonite a patients family brought 4 pizzas for the staff ( there were only 8 of us)... 1/2 a pizza for each one. I ate the veggie one. I figured it was the least I could do after all the candy!!!!

Hey, I guess it's time that I chime in (I am also not a punk!)...wasn't really paying attention there..Undecided

Great goals everyone has!  I'm currently following 1/2 marathon training and trying to keep increasing the mileage, currently my long run is about 8 miles and going strong.

Sticking to a healthy diet is always the toughest part for me, so I just need to focus mostly on that while training regularly...

Keep up the good work!

fifthcircle - 2009-11-01 2:35 PM HOWDY! Sorry I'm late to the party...... nothin' new there I'm Kurt. 31, no kids, no excuses! Running 3x per week, strength 3x per week. Gotta get rockin by Turkey Day for a 6mi run with some of my family. Just a fun run, but apparently my Brother-in-law is fast. I had no idea, since he's a truck driver and I've never known him to really exercise. My sis tells me he ran a 22min 5k....I'm not that fast! It's been a long time since I did a challenge here. My friend Scott (Slickster) should be chiming in anytime soon. He's just 25min from me here in Nebraska. He's a punk, so don't take any crap from him!!! Measly 2mi run on tap tonight....I think I need new shoes....and a trip to GRAND CAYMAN!

Hi Kurt! We have the same goals - 3x running 3x lifting per week.  Though, I'm not trying to run a 6 miler on T-day.

Good luck!

Norine

Thanks for the roster table - it really makes keeping in touch easier!

Now I am up early thanks to the time change, so I'm going to take advantage and knock of 20 minutes of either yoga or strength - whoohoo! Nothing like a challenge to get me motivated - I think it's the thought of all of you depending on me rather than just doing something for myself. A co-dependent's way of motivation for workouts - lol.

More about me AFTER I workout!

Time to say hi - My name is David and I caught the tri bug this Spring.  With 3 kids and a stressful job, fitness and finding time for workouts are really my priorities right now.  So here are my goals:
1) Lose 6 pounds - I'm currently at 212, which is a total loss of 38.  I'm so close to the 40 pound mark, I can taste it.  I want to make it to 50 pounds by Christmas so if I could stop eating my kids' Halloween candy - that would be great!
2) My workouts have been inconsistent due to injury, lack of sunlight, and no more races - so I made it my second goal to work out 24 times this month.
3) My knee left knee has been killing me and I haven't done the best job of taking care of it.  So - I made it my last goal to rehab it (ice each night, stretch each day, and actually go to the AT who works at my school.

Good luck to us all!

OK - 25 minutes of yoga and that felt GOOD! Now, my intro -

My name is Ann or Annabanana or other derivations of that. I am almost 48, mother of an 8yr old son, and live in central FL. This year I returned to work full-time in a new career as a middle/high school teacher in a Montessori school. I have 9 students from 12-16 years old. In my previous incarnation I was a computer consultant/web developer, and still run my small consulting company on the side.

I never worked out at all until my 30s. 30-35 I took up cycling, and did touring mostly, including some multi-day tours. 35-40 I was traveling for work, and switched to running out of necessity. I am the world's best definition of tortoise - slow and steady - so I moved quickly into endurance running, and ran many trail ultra-marathons. Just before 40 I had to cut back in order to make a baby (so they said) and then was put on no exercise while my son was cooking in the oven. After he was born I juggled exercise in whenever I could, having my up and down years. I moved to FL and took up multi-sport because it's just too dang hot to run long all year. I did a few sprints and Olympic distance tris.

A couple of years ago started a downward spiral as I headed into menopause. That has knocked all the wind out of my sails for the past two years, and my exercise has been hanging on by my fingernails and doing stuff here and there. I've felt like I have had a total body/mind/spirit makeover from the inside out and at often times have felt possessed by alien life forms. That seems to be settling down now, and here I am heading towards 50 - 20lbs more than I wanted to be and so dang busy I cannot figure out how to make the time to exercise regularly.

I know there is time in there to do it, so I'm hoping that the challenge will do it's usual job of kicking me into gear. I've participated in challenges here and on other boards before, and it always does the trick, so here I am to join you and get back to working out - COLD TURKEY STYLE!!!

Looking forward to getting to know you all better as we get through this great month of November!

Montessori High School - cool - tough to find those here in Dallas...  My wife is an upper elementary Montessori teacher.  It is the best educational model I have seen so far...
