mchubri` - 2010-05-18 10:23 AM I'm bailing folks!  Tendonitis is too much to bear, and I don't want to make it worse.  I've offered to volunteer instead, I don't know in what capicity yet.  I'll keep you posted.

Any plans for a small BT Gathering post race or anything?

Pun intended?

That's too bad you have to drop out.  I'm having some issue with my knee deciding to hurt all of a sudden, but I'm hopeful it will be better/"bear"able by Sunday.

Sorry to hear. I actually bailed on an HIM at the end of the month and scaled back to the Oly at BB because of tendinitis.

I haven't heard of a BT gathering. I am open, but I tend to get really focused at races and don't like to deal with coordinating schedules and who will be where and what do people want to eat and who is riding with whom. I am an anal retentive selfish person comfortable with routines.

I'm game for a BT gathering!  Who's bringing the camera? I want a mug show on the BT banner on the main page!!

My husband will also be in the clydesdale division, but I'm hoping he has no plans to shave his head. =p  I think he'll be in an Arrogant Bastard jersey.

We're driving down from Binghamton on Saturday and staying in a hotel about 17 miles from the race.  I know packet pick up ends at 6pm, so I don't know if it makes more sense to meet before the end of packet pick up or afterwords, say, for dinner or drinks (water for the hard core people, beer for me).

I'm game for a get-together, too.  Anyone familiar with the area?  I don't really know what's in the area besides the lake and the hotel I booked.

I'm driving up on Saturday late afternoon.  I found a place to stay in Allentown.  I plan on going up to the park so I can at least drive the bike course.  I had paid for the race day packet pickup but if I get there in time, I will see if I can get my stuff on Saturday.  I have no other plans.

Although I suppose if you use the "swim nekkid" approach, it cuts down on the number of competitors willing to bang into you on the swim?  Just remember to call out "shrinkage" as you exit the water and head out to T1!

Will the shrinkage make you more aerodynamic in the water?

I know shrinkage definitely affects your steering since the "rudder" is smaller.

You guys are too funny. I love it!!

Husband has firefighting training Saturday morning. Lame.  Then we're driving down.  We're staying at some hotel just a few miles from the race (can you believe they were charging $175/night?!!!!!! OUTRAGEOUS!).

I'd like to go to the expo and walk around, but does anyone want to meet up for dinner or a bike ride on Saturday?  I'm usually a little fish, but I ain't going in the water until I have to.

p.s. what do the girls get to yell when heading to T1 because if I yell "shrinkage" then they might wonder about me....

Few questions:

Does anyone know if they do a bike bottle handoff?  Didn't see in the packet, so I assume no, but just wanted to check.

Run course looks flat - anyone know for sure?

I just picked up some 60 mm deep aero wheels with a rear wheelbuilder cover - any advice on if I should use it?  I'm thinking the elevation/grade isn't so great and I'd gain more than I'll lose by having it.  Can anyone smarter than me comment?

Thanks!

Do I need to explain... see, the shrinkage makes the rudder small, so the steering is difficult hence the going off course. Even with shrinkage I do not swim off course.

I don't think the weight will be a huge factor...just 100-200 grams? I switched from 28 spoke Velomax...good wheel... to Hed3. The H3's weigh more but I can't tell...and they look cool. Wind is supposed to be 6mph so I say do it. Looking cool is most important!

Yes, definitely shout shrinkage....they'll look at the guy behind you...hopefully not me :-)
Don't know if I can make dinner but why not shout out dinner for after the pre race meeting Saturday....say 5P? Meet at transition at 4:30 P to decide place?
