Looking forward to the next couple of weekends being "shorter" long runs (never thought I would consider a 12 mile run "short" )Haven't yah heard, 12-mile run is the new 4-miler. I got a 17-miler next Sunday, followed by a 10-miler the last Sunday. Most of my Long Runs have been reasonably hilly, as I taper the distance, I'll also be tapering the hills and the last Medium-Long Run (10-miler the Sunday before) will pretty much be flat with just a few rollers - kind of like the Philly course. I like a hard, fast Taper. I've found that works best for me and helps me POP for Race Day. |

Yes, I am coming all the way to Philly for a marathon!!  My hubby and I love NHL hockey...so I found the marathon and then planned a nice little hockey vacation around it...for our 20 year wedding anniversary! I run the marathon...he arrives on Sunday after the race. We see games in New York - Islanders and Rangers, New Jersey, Philly, DC! 5 games in 7 days and I get another state!! GREAT way to spend a vacation...things I like to do...run, eat, hockey, drink!! It will be my 7th marathon - 4th this year. ~Ann Edited by stampinann 2010-11-02 11:35 PM |

But seriously... for me, I always expect the worse conditions - so I am anticipating 19 degrees, 40mph wind gusts, and freezing sleet mixed with hail. Then, when the weather is even a hair better than that, I'm happily surprised. So if we show up and it's 30 degrees, with 20 mph winds and an icey drizzle, I'll still be happy. Another thing about the weather, good or bad, is we all have to run in the same conditions. |
